People.
They slip in and out of your lives all the time.
They leave flowers, they heals wounds, they leave scars.
A never-ending cycle of memories that always ends in abandonment.
But the spark between you will always remain in your heart.
You like them, you love them.
Then you hate them for leaving you here, all alone again.
Thinking, they knew, they knew it would hurt, but they did it anyway.
In your head you knew. Knew it had to be.
That they never meant to hurt you either.
That what you wanted and what you expected of them was unreasonable.
But you hold it against them anyway.
Because it hurts.
Because you can't take it.
Because you can't stand seeing them smile, so far away from you.
You wanted time to freeze, so that you'd have that warmth again.
So that you'd have more then gaping memories.
But you know it can never happen.
So you shut yourself away.
Building up walls to protect you from everyone.
From yourself.
Hoping you'd never have to truly say farewell to someone again.
So that you could leave them before they left you...
And forever you kneeled, chained in the four walls you'd built.
Withering.
As a fake smile is plastered across your face, twitching against its glued corners.
