I find it kind of funny, I find it kind of sad, the dream’s in which I’m dying are the best I’ve ever had….

I sang out the lyrics to Gary Jules’s ‘Mad World’ as I finished washing my hair. I closed my eyes, and let the warm water trickle over my body. I turned the shower and stepped out onto the cold tiles, and wrapped my towel around myself.

Once I had dried myself, I changed into my pyjama shorts and put an oversized hoodie over my singlet top. I peeked my head around the door and saw everyone had shut their doors. An eerie silence fell over me. I quietly slipped downstairs to get a drink of water.

As I was walking out of the kitchen, I saw a figure lying of the couch. I walked closer to try and identify them. The silhouette had curly hair.

Shit. None of the boys had curly hair, and they’re all in their rooms…

I crept over to the fireplace and picked up a large piece of wood ready, to strike whoever it was over the head. I raised it, ready to knock the shit out of this creep.

“Holly shit!! What the hell are you doing?” Naill’s voice erupted from behind me.

“Shut up Niall” I hissed under my breath. “Don’t worry, I’ll take care of whoever this creep is.” I motioned to the figure on the couch.

“No need Rhi.” Niall warned as he flicked on the lights… and revealed that the sleeping figure on the couch was in fact, Curly Fries.

He slowly flickered his eyes open, and jumped up when he saw me with a piece of wood, ready to knock him out.

“Whoa Curly Fries, you know I was only kidding before when I said you were a stalker, but… obviously you weren’t?” I said, still ready to strike.

Niall cautiously pulled the wood out of my hands. “Rhi this is Harry, the other boy in our band.” He looked from me to Harry, confused. “And… I’m guessing you two have already met?”

“You guessed right, and let’s just say Curly here doesn’t understand the how to make a good first impression.” I said, with a smirk making a guest appearance on my face.

“Well, now that we’ve established that I’m meant to be here, can I go to sleep?” Harry mumbled sleepily.

“Yeah, whatever Curls. Oh, and by the way: second impression wasn’t much of an improvement.” I sighed and began to shuffle my way back upstairs, embarrassed.

I turned over in my bed and looked to my clock. 2 am; there was no way I was going to get any sleep. I had jetlag, and I had always been a self-diagnosed semi-insomniac. I slid my legs out from underneath the covers and put my hoodie back on.

I slipped downstairs, trying not to make a sound. Of course, when passing through the living room (where Curly was passed out on the coach) I had to kick my toe on the edge of the door.

“Shit, ow, ow, ow!” I cursed under my breath.

“What… oh hey, what you doing up?” Harry asked as he sat up, rubbing his eyes.

“Going Out.” I said, slipping on my vans in the process.

“You do realise you’re in London now, not Australia. It’s freezing out, and those,” he said, motioning to my shorts, “Aren’t going to do much.”

“Thanks, Captain Obvious, but I don’t really own much in the way of warm clothes. So I’m just gonna have to deal.” I shrugged.

“Here, I’m not going to be using them.” He said, chucking me a pair of tracksuit pants from beside him.

“Thanks?” I murmured, slipping them on over my shorts.

“Anytime babe.” he winked.

“Yeah…no. Better luck next time, buddy.” I chuckled as I walked out the door, quietly closing it behind me.
