I was back in my room after the end of my shift in medbay. I was still alittle flustered from the Chekov incident. I still don't know why Kirk didn't just give the papers to me. Damnit if he's trying to set Chekov and I up.... Well I may not be totally against that.
I heard a knock at my door so I had to get off my lazy butt and see who's there. "Hannah I know you're in there open up!" It was Kylie. I quickly punched in my code and let her in.
"Hi Ky! How was your first day?" I walked back over to my bed and semi belly flopped on it.
"Not bad. How was your day?" She sat down on the bed next to me.
"It was OK. Had a 'run in' With Chekov. Kirk sent him to give some papers to Bones. I don't know why Kirk didn't just give them to me to give to Dr. McCoy. I'm perfectly capable of delivering papers. We ended up tripping out of the lift and got all tangled up." I buried my face in a pillow and groaned. God why am I so awkward. I looked up to see Kylie laughing. "What's so funny?"
"You should have seen Chekov's face when he came back to the bridge. He looked like a mix between a deer in the headlights and a lovesick puppy. Kirk almost sent him down to medbay to see if he was ok but Sulu said that wouldn't be a good idea."
I just sat there wide-eyed, probably blushing. Kylie just rolled here eyes at me. I finally stopped acting like a schoolgirl and crossed my arms.
"So I heard Kirk invited you for a few drinks tonight" I gave Kylie a questioning look.
"Oh. Um. Yeah... Yeah he did. It's just a 'Welcome to the Enterprise' thing. He probably has a girlfriend."
"'Welcome to the Enterprise'? Did he say that or are you trying to just hide the fact he asked you out and you're to embarrassed to admit you like him?" Kylie just gave me a semi-glare and rolled her eyes.
"Well, It's 7:45 and I told him I'd meet him at 8. I better get going." Oh my god is she blushing? I couldn't really tell as she walked out of my room too quick.
But anyways. Chekov looked like a mix between a deer-in-the-headlights and a lovesick puppy. I'm just going to take that as a good sign.
