There was something about this school that I didn't like. And it wasn't just that I had to go to the school, away from my friends, away from my life that I thought I knew, away from Dad, away from happiness. I just didn't like the looks of it. I mean, it was a middle school and high school combined. All these people know each other. I won't fit in at all.
I was walking up the steps when I heard my name being called.
"Yo, Jaden!" called a voice I knew. Who was it? I slowly turn around and laugh. It was Nate, my best friend. I forgot that he moved schools also. I smiled and walked up to him.
"Hey Nate!" I said. I was happy I would at least get to see him in the morning. I don't know how I would survive without him.
"Shall we go to the office and get our schedules?" Nate asked.
"Of course!"
So we headed to the office, or what looked like the office and went in. There, it had a big desk and a wide open space with lounging chairs and tables. Down the hallway, you could see more offices and chairs outside of the doors. Slowly, I walked up to the secretary's desk and read her name, Mrs. Johnson. I looked beside me, to find Nate gone! I frantically looked around until I spotted him on one of the couches. He pointed to a sign that was taped to the back of Mrs. Johnson's computer, which read, "Busy! Have a seat in the lounge and I'll be with you in a minute :)" Following the instructions, I went and sat by Nate. I took a moment to take in his features, something I haven't done in a long time.
Big, bluish eyes, that looked like the planet earth; long eyelashes; brown, curly hair that covered his ears and went to about his eyebrows; larger frame; pale; about 5'9"; long fingers; a smile to die for; dark attire; skin that I would die to touch... He was beautiful.
Whoa, Jaden. What has gotten into you? I thought to myself as I was taking in this boy. He caught me staring. Sheepishly, I look down.
"What?" Nate asked, "Do I have a pimple?"
Jokingly, I touched his nose. "Right there!" We both laughed. It felt good, being with my best friend.
"Alrighty, what do you guys need?" The secretary, Mrs. Johnson, said.
I looked at Nate, waiting for him to explain. He leaned in and whispered, "I don't want to say it, I have a massive pimple!"
Nate and I giggled quietly. I perked up and looked at Mrs. Johnson, "We came to get our schedules. We're new here."
"Oh, got it. Are you... which is which?" she said hesitantly
"I'm Jaden," I said as Nate said, "I'm Nate." we looked at each other and grinned. Mrs. Johnson chuckled as she walked to the printer.
"Alright," she said handing us our schedules, "here they are, have a golden day!"
"As to you!" Nate and I said at the same time as we walked out the door.
"Lets compare," he smiled. It was a million-dollar smile. I could die for it. "Jaden?"
"Right, yeah. Lets do it!"
"Okay, I have homeroom with... umm... Mr. Mayer, first and second I have ELA with Mr. Berg, third I have history with Mr. Mayer, fourth I have computer with Mr... umm.. Mr. Dick,"-Nate chuckled under his breath- "on B days, gym with Mr. Stoebner on A days, filth period is science with Mrs. Tschudy, sixth I have math with Mrs. Diede, seventh I have my encore class, which just so happens to be art, with Mrs. Felser, and last in eighth period I have band on B days and study hall in Mr. Mayer's room on A days." Nate finished, sighing. "Yours?"
"Mine," I started, "actually looks relatively the same, with the exception of eighth period A days. I have choir."
"So we have the same classes, apart from that minor detail?" he asked. I nodded. This was sort of in a way exciting. I mean, I get to have all my classes with my best friend! What's not to love?
