Guardian angel

2 : Assigned

I can only recall visiting the castle once before, and that was twenty years ago when I was five years old, assigned to the realm of Equinon, and chosen to receive training from Angel 100.Unlike me 3034 has been here a lot of times in fact he resided here with his mother, a guardian angel like my parents but his father, angel 211, fell in love with a fairy and they now reside on Earth. Angel 211 is actually a good father to him they frequently visit and he lives in realm red. This is One of the reasons 3034 wishes to be the realm angel of realm Red. His mother is also quite nice unfortunately she had a hard time stomaching the departure of angel 211 and came to live in the castle helping the king and queen.

As we entered the enormous castle doors a beautiful angel with the most beautiful burgundy wings, I have ever seen welcomed us. We are escorted to a grand hall that is a white and bright. I looked up and saw only the while light for so long the pretty winged angel look at me the celling informs us that there is a celling it's just so high that we are unable to see it. I looked around the place it is packed with angels all wearing white. It is mandatory to be in white for meetings kind of cliché I know. I saw many other realm angels all looking as eager as I am to be assigned new realm.

Scanning the crowd, I am pleasantly surprised to spot my mother she was a guardian angel to a human who had passed away two years ago, now she's retired. However, it just seems to me that she has become my guardian angel with all the times she checked up on in since retiring. Both my parents live not so far from the castle. But since this was the realm angel gathering, I had no idea why she was there. As soon we noticed each other I went to talk to her leaving 3034 behind. He knows the place he can get by, in any case he will likely meet angel 189, the chief of realm angels, to request realm red. My mother ever so eager hugged me as soon as I got near her. She is a small angel with large eyes, long brown hair and an even bigger smile.

"Oh, child I missed you, how was realm Equinon? Did you have a nice time there? I am proud of you child. I heard from angel 189 that there was a vampire attack and that you helped him stop it. But you have to be careful around vampires they are not friendly you see. Of course, I knew you would be great at it. And now that your training is over..." She hugged me tighter before releasing me. "Are you really serious about being a realm angel I just wanted to ask you to give the guardian angel a chance? You to know that guardian angels may not be as strong as realm angels but it is a lot less dangerous-"

"Mother what are you doing here?" I asked.

She would have continued for longer if I had not cut her off. Only at the age of twenty and five, I've already heard a hundred lectures on why guardian angels are preferable to realm angels, therefore I don't want to hear them again.

"Can't I visit my daughter? Really child are you not happy to see me?" she appeared hurt.

"Of course, mother I really am happy to see you but I just wondered why you were at a realm angel meeting" I quickly amended

"We, I mean your father and I have something to tell you but he is quite busy now. We'll tell you after the meeting." Mother says her eyes searching in the crowd. Father is also here? I wonder why. Now I'm really curious to what is going on.

"Now where is 3034 I haven't seen him in years." asks my mother. I know she thinks that 3034 is more than just a friend to me but we were always best friends and just that. My parents think he influenced me to become a realm angel when in fact it was the other way around. Most people do not decide on a realm angel for more reasons than one. My parents have been telling me this for so many times that being a realm angel has a longer training period, require more mastery of magic and that we won't be able to form relationships with anyone and will lead a lonely life.

"3034 is here somewhere." I heard a loud booming bell being rung twice "The meeting is about to begin I'm going to go stand somewhere in the front" I tell my mother and walk off.

"Of course, dear I'll go fetch you father and talk to you after the meeting." She says after me.

I waved my had in her direction and walk into the crowd and tried to budge my way to the front, being petite can help you push through crowd. Angel 189 along with her second in command whose names I don't know yet were above. For a few seconds I just stood there admiring the beautiful wings of angel 189. The older you turn the more beautiful your wings get. She was also a petit woman but had a strong built with perfectly toned arms. Angel 189 greeted us and asked us if anyone was ready to retire there were a few angels who murmured yes and flew to her to give them their names. This went on for a while and finally angel 189 started calling out names and assigning new realms to them. While she was calling out names 3034 came to stand next to me. He took my hand in his and smiled. From his smile I knew that he came with happy news.

"You got realm red? "I guess unable to cover my surprise and joy.

He nods with a crooked smile on his full lips.

"I'm glad, congratulations 3034" I squeeze his hand.

"I am so happy and can't wait to begin. Why can't it be tomorrow already?" 3034 said excitedly.
I then shushed him and listened to angel 189 I didn't want to miss my name being called. I listen intensely to angel 189.I heard 3034 get assigned realm red. He howled and hooted in joy angels around us gave him a weird glance but angel 189 went on as if she heard nothing. I was confused when angel 189 finished and my name hadn't been called. I turned to 3034. He saw the worry on my face and I saw the same on his face, he was worried for me, but he tried to cover it with a reassuring smile.

"My name was not called." I say the fear in tone is apparently so evident that 3034 rubbed the palm of my hand with both of his and trying to sooth me.

"Don't worry I'm sure there was some mistake we'll ask her after the meeting" he soothes.

I allowed his words to calm me. Or I tried to. I was still shaken. This was the day I was waiting for, the moment I have dreamed about and its going wrong. I needed answers and needed them quick.

"I'm sure you are right. But it is not like angel 189 to make such mistakes." I mused

We waited for her to finish the assignment process and was about to walk to her. Just then we all heard another bell. I bowed my head down like everyone else in the hall and waited for the arrival of the king. The king is the superior among all of us and answers to no one but the queen. The queen is the most powerful angel to exist or till she decides to give her powers to the next queen but I don't see that happening any time soon. For one because they have no heir. Their son was killed on the day he was born by dark angels. And since then, the queen has been mourning. If you ask me, I think two decades is more than enough time to mourn. Her people need her now more than her deceased son. But who am I to judge the all-knowing queen?

With our bowed head and tucked wings, we waited for the king to arrive.
