Chapter Three - Dawn

Badgerstar sat by the Withered Tree, and flicked an ear as Foxtail approached. "Badgerstar, your treachery needs to stop." He said flatly, slashing her muzzle. "And how are you going to kill me?" Badgerstar asked, standing up and unsheathing her claws. "You don't believe in StarClan!" He said confidently, as he lunged at her. She dodged and slashed his pelt. He turned around and tripped her, and clawed her back. Badgerstar slid underneath him, pummeling his belly. Quickly, Foxtail bit down on her neck. Badgerstar stood up and shook her head, blood flying. She leaped on top of him, and bit down on his scruff, hard. She dug her claws into his back. He flung her off, and she hit the ground with a thump. "I swear..." Badgerstar rasped. "I will come back!" She choked on her words, blood spilled from her throat as she coughed. She rested her head on her paws, and as her breathing slowed Foxtail ran a scratch along her back to kill her. 

Foxtail was breathing hard, and padded back to camp just as the sun rose. The fight had lasted all night. As he got back to camp, he talked with the deputy. She agreed that he could become leader, for killing Badgerstar. A few sunrises later, he went to receive his nine lives from StarClan. He lead RainClan happily from then on, known as Foxstar.
