Amber Gemini Madison was at the window peering through. She saw the sun of day, and the flowers of spring. She pressed her nose against the window when she spotted her father in the garden. He looked and laughed as he always did. In that moment, she felt happiness and love in everything around her. The wind was gentle across the flowers and swayed them softly. Her mother was tending to the flowers and smiling to her father who held a shovel in hand. Amber felt lucky to have parents so loving to her, and each other. None of the day would've mattered if she had not remembered it.
Amber ran outside, as fast as to fall, for she tripped easy on her short legs. She was only 6 years old. Her long golden brown hair in two messy French braids flew behind her. She quickly sprung up from the place where she had fallen. Her deep brown eyes went from her mother to her father, in decision she stretched her short arms to both parents,and they moved closer to form a tight group hug.
Her eyes water now at the memory. She lifts her head up and turns to see nothing but darkness. She needs to run, to escape, but the tears came and she couldn't go now, not yet. Too risky her thoughts say. It will never be like that again she wipes her tears using her jacket sleeve, the smokey smell only burns her eyes more, she then shivers and wraps her arms around herself for warmth. One day perhaps...
