The bus came early on a rainy Thursday. Amber was fully dressed in a purple rain coat and boots. She jumped to the bus in happiness, today was the talent show, and Amber loved nothing more than to sing. She climbed the bus steps and sat next to a girl named Carmen. Carmen had hair the color of rust, and freckles everywhere. Amber loved to brush through her messy hair, because she found the color quite lovely, like a sunset she'd call it. Carmen didn't mind, she enjoyed the company of Amber. They were best friends. Not that it matters anymore.
The bus came to a couple of stops, and Amber switched Carmen seats every time. She felt that was the fairest way. Amber watched as the rain fell onto the ground and imagined how good the water is being.
" It will one day be water that comes outta sink" Amber told Carmen.
"I drink water from the sky?" Amber asked
"Yup, that's what my daddy told me" Carmen replied. The bus finally made it to the school. Amber attended a public school called Washington Primary. She walked with Carmen over the steps that led to the building. Amber loved first grade, even if the naps from the year before were no longer. Amber didn't mind though because she held the belief that naps took away her time anyway.
The school day was a typical breeze. One under appreciated. The talent show was great, the other students, the teacher, Miss Bianca, and even a few parents did. Amber's mother even surprised her by attending. All was well.
