I saw something i shouldn't have. I know things, secrets that other people dont. Now because of these secrets i had to leave my family, friends and life behind. Because of those secrets I'm on the run!

"Mum, I'm going out for a bit" I mumbled, grabbing my keys out of the jar and opened our shabby apartment door.

"Sammy? Make sure you're back for dinner." My mum's voice breaking already. I didn't reply. Slamming the door shut I had sudden feeling of claustrophobia I sprinted down the stairs and out of the hell hole, my flat.

I had been stuck there ever since my dad walked out on us 8 years ago when I was 7. Mum had a complete breakdown and started drinking heavily. I knew we wouldn't even have dinner tonight; maybe Coke and a sandwhich for me if I was lucky. Sometimes I would get so angry at her and shout at her to pull herself together because she has still got me. Then she would start crying and I can't shout at her any longer. So I would go out to walk off my anger at my dad.

Wandering along one of the main roads I decided to take a de-tour. Walking alone like this was the best part of my life. Sad right? When you live in a deprived area anything becomes interesting. Cutting aimessly through small alleyways i glanced at my watch. 18:28. I knew my mum would be panicking, sober or not, and I knew I'd never be allowed out the house again. I tried to rethink my step and go back but I didn't recognise any of it. Felling for my phone in my pocket, my stomach dropped. I vaguely remebered seeing it on the living room table.

God Sammy, you're 15 years old and your panicking about getting lost. It was getting dark now, the street light flickered on, the luminous yellow casting a hazy light in the dark alleyway. My heart racing now I turned around corner and stopped abruptly. Ther e, in fornt of me. My mind paralysed. Taking steps back round the corner Shapes flickering in the dim light of the street light. My heart was thumping and beating so loud I was suprised it didnt burst out of my chest. Edging cautiously and peeping back round the corner I couldnt hold back a gasp. There, in the light I saw... I felt bile rising in my throat and i couldn't stop myself from dropping to the ground and retching loudly.

Before I know what was happening I was seized from behind. Rough hands squeezing my throat. I was vauguely aware of the wetness on the hands and felt sticky. Almost like blood. I was already stuggling to breathe. Black finging my eye-site. Black dots appearing.

Sammy, punch him, kick him, do whatever just make him let go. I lashed out. My captor and I fell back and i felt his grip loosen a bit. I jabbed my elow back and heard him grunt. I felt the release of pressure and scrambled up thinking on your feet, on your feet. Another man came out of the blue and punched me on the cheek. I guess that is one advantage of living in a rough area; you get into a lot of fights. I punched him and felt slight satisfaction when my hand connected with his jaw. I heard a crack and the stranger stumbled back howling and clutching it, I took the oppurtunity so I turned and ran. The man who had seized me earlier was back on his feet and charged at me. Knowing he'd use his wait to throw me off I waited till he was a meter away before I dodged quickly past him and stuck out my leg to catch him off balance. He face planted it, but not before hooking me in the stomach so i fell back winded. I rolled over, still gasping for breathe, got up and ran for it. I was sure i saw more than two guy in the light of the street lamp when I saw... No, I couldn't think about that.

I ran till I couldn't breathe. Until I was lying on the cold, hard pavement. I gulped in air like a fish out of water. My muscles ached and I felt drips of sweat rolling down my fore head. I realized I had no idea where I was. I heaved myself of the ground, wiping the sweat off my fore head and squinted into the darkness to look at my surroundings. I saw the old bakery my dad and I always went to for bread and I knew where I was. I was five blocks away from the flat. My whole body was shaking, I could barely walk me step because I couldn't control my legs.

Struggling get my legs co ordinating, I stumbled a few steps before I stopped dead. A dark figure emerged out of the shadows. Dressed in a large leather jacket and a fedora hat on pulled down covering his face, I felt his eyes burning into me. I took a few steps back realizing I was in no state to start running again.

"Who are you?" I rasped, my voiced ragged. The stranger said nothing but took a couple of steps towards me. Backing away, I thought about what I could do. My muscles burning I dashed to the left. Pumping my legs as fast as I could I heard the man's footsteps behind me, quickly catching up. Glancing behind me I jerked in surprise seeing he was a hairs bredth away from me. Losing my balance I tripped and fell to the ground scraping my hands and my hands and knees badly. Scrambling away my head suddenly feeling heavy I saw him walk up to me with a cloth in his hand. Covering my nose and mouth with the cloth I felt my getting heavier and heavier. Just before blacking out I heard him mutter "you gotta run son, you gotta run."
