Hikaru POVI was terrified of what I saw.
There was Kaoru sitting down on the floor perfectly fine, but the catch...that thing wasn't Kaoru. It never would be.
"What are you doing here Alex?" I asked stiffly
"I'm claiming what's mine Jason, you should do the same." It replied back.
"My name isn't Jason it's Hikaru."
"Oh Jason, if only you were smart enough to come out and claim the soul, you'd be free and we could be together the way we planned all those years ago." It said
"Fuck off and leave us alone, this Jason person isn't here!"
Kaoru's eyes widened a bit before his body flinched. It cursed and looked at me angrily, finally it turned away and Kaoru's body went limp.
I rushed towards him as he fell to the floor, picking him up as soon as I reached him. I rushed back into the bedroom and gently laid him on our bed.
"Just hang on for a little bit Kaoru, I'll be back with Mimosa in a minute." I muttered as I opened the door, walking towards the staircase.
- A few minutes later -
As I reached the bottom of the staircase I took a sharp turn to the left, heading towards Mimosa's office. Some of the servants greeted me as I passed them, but I only grunted in return.
Finally after what felt like forever, I reached her office door. Grabbing the door knob, I barged inside without a second thought. Hoping that she wasn't doing anything important.
"Mimosa, are you in here?" I asked aloud while looking around her office.
"Over here Hikaru." I followed the voice and looked behind the humongous stacks of paperwork. There in all her glory was Mimosa, drowning in contracts and doctor's notes.
"You look busy, should I come back another time?" I asked as I went around her desk.
"No you're fine, just tell me what you need." She said as she signed a document and put it in a neat stack.
"Well, honestly I don't know what I need," she looked up " I mean, Kaoru had an 'episode' again, and I wanted you to make sure that he's okay."
"Sure Hikaru if that's what you want."
As Mimosa stood up, I realized that I hadn't called the host club, or the school for that matter.
"Can I use your phone for a minute Mimosa ?" I asked
"Sure, but as soon as you're finished I want you to tell me exactly what happened." She said as she handed me her cell.
I dialed the Host Club Hotline and waited for someone to answer.
"Hello, this Ouran Highschool's Host Club Hotline. My name is Kyoya Ootori, how may I assist you?"
"Hey Kyoya, its Hikaru. I was wondering if you could do me a favor?" I asked as I followed Mimosa upstairs towards Mine and Kaoru's room.
" Depending on what it is, I might be able to do this 'Favor' " He replied
" I need you to tell Headmaster Suoh that Kaoru and I will be absent from school for awhile."
"Okay I'll do it, however, may I ask you why you need to be absent?"
"Kaoru is, a bit....'ill'"
" Just Kaoru?" He asked. A tone of suspicion in his voice.
"Yeah" I said as Mimosa and I reached the top of the staircase
We turned the corner, only to see a sickly looking Kaoru waiting in the corridor, barely holding up his weight against the wall.
" I have to go Kyoya, I'll call you when Kaoru's feeling better." I said quickly as I hung up.
I handed Mimosa her phone and headed towards Kaoru, picking him up and taking him into our room.
"I brought Mimosa here Kaoru, she's here to help you feel better." I said soothingly as I held his hand.
"I can't help him until you tell me what happened." Mimosa said as she checked Kaoru's Vitals.
"I'm guessing that he fell since I heard a thud before I was able to help him," I said " When I got into the bathroom he was on the floor, at first I saw him hunched over, but then he turned around and I saw his eyes. They were an eccentric blue almost glowing. It was at that moment I realized that he was possessed by it. "
"It meaning this ghost I've heard so much about ?" She asked as she checked Kaoru's heartbeat.
"Yeah." I said curtly
"Well there's not much I can do if the ghost's not present, I can only make a guess about the purpose of the ghost itself and even then, that'll take a couple of days with your information so far."
"Well thanks anyway Mimosa, i'll make sure to call you if anything happens with Kaoru's condition."
"Please do, it would also help if you could keep him hydrated and well-fed."
I nodded in understanding and lead her to the door, Kaoru sleeping n the bed. As we went outside of the room I closed the door and looked Mimosa straight in the eyes. A serious gleam in mine and a nervous one in her's. She asked the question I dreaded to hear.
"Hikaru," She asked hesitantly as I looked her in the eyes, " What were those scars on Kaoru's stomach, why wasn't I notified of this beforehand ?"
I looked at her and thought about the answer to her question. I could either lie or I could tell her the traumatizing truth, the truth that steered away countless private doctors and nurses before her.
I decided to save myself the trouble and tel her the truth as to, if only, see whether or not she was capable of completing this job.
"When Kaoru and I were younger, about 6 or 7 we fell severely ill. We were hospitalized for one week exactly. I was kept for minor headaches and pains, Kaoru however was kept for vomiting, fatigue, and severe malnourishment. It got so bad that our parents were accused of child abuse and neglect because bruises indicating strangling and mistreatment were appearing out of nowhere on his skin." I stated, only just beginning.
"I had no idea that happened, if I had only known I-" I cut her off and started heading down the stairs, turning around when she didn't immediatly follow me.
"It would be better to head downstairs, we literally have all day and I don't want Kaoru to wake up."
She finally got the message and silently followed me downstairs, shyly fidgeting around expecting me to continue the story as we walked.
"W-what happened after that ?" she asked as we approached the bottom of the stairs. I stepped down and turned towards her, answering her question.
"I met Alex."
She looked at me in awe as if I had done the impossible. Continuing on with my story I entered the living room area and sat down patting the space beside me, motioning for her to sit down as well.
Once she sat down I started the story once more this time saying more than I'd ever said about it before.
