The earth chilled her bones as she stood there. Tears welled up in her old green eyes. All in black she stood in the pouring rain. The wrinkles on her face grew deeper as her age finally caught up with her. The funeral had been over for two hours, yet she couldn’t leave. Her only love was now buried under pounds of dirt. She felt alone, unwanted now that he was gone. He was her whole world. She had never thought that he would leave after all they had been through. Her old knees gave out from under her as she collapsed to the cold ground. She kneeled at his grave and cried. A soft voice came through the wind. “Mon ange mon amour soit fort ma chérie pour vous ne sont jamais seuls.” (My angel my love be strong my darling for you are never alone.) Bewildered she looked up in to the air. There a face appeared in the rain. Tears poured down her face. “Pour quoi? Pourquoi m'as-tu quitte? (Why? Why have you left me?) From the face came forth a body. He stepped gracefully from the curtains of rain. She stood facing him. His face was as young as she remembered years before. He smiled. He stretched out his clear hand to her. She took it and the surprisingly warm sensation came over her. She couldn’t believe her eyes. She felt his hand. She could actually feel it! She touched his face. His skin was smooth and wrinkle free. His hair felt like the finest silk. She stepped back. He smiled at her as she gazed into his eyes. “Adieu ma douce. Adieu mon ange, mon tuteur garder,” (Goodbye my sweet. Goodbye my angel, my guardian keep.) He sang softly. She watched teary eyed as her love began to fade back from hence he came…..into the rain. “Non! Revenez! S’il vous plaìt je vous en prie! Ne me laissez pas dans cet endroit miserable! S’il vous plait!” (No! Come back! Please I beg! Don’t leave me in this wretched place! Please!) She cried as she reached out for him. His face disappeared once again into the rain. She cried as she stumbled over the wet ground attempting to bring him back. Mud covered her body as she cried on Earth’s cold surface.
