Anna's POV
Today was finally the day I got to check out the bookstore. And I was so happy my stuff finally came.
I made my way out to find the 'Shelf'. That was the name of the shop and I thought getting some groceries for my apartment wouldn't be that bad considering I have nothing. Besides I can't depend on Jeremy to take me out every time I don't have food.
I finally arrived with the address in hand. I open the small but heavy wooden glass door hoping not to be too late.
"I'll be with you in a minute"
A voice came from somewhere in the right side of the store.
"No worries" I said. That voice sounded familiar.
Looking around I had already spotted a hardcover of Shakespeare's sonnets and a limited edition paperback of A Study in Scarlet from Arthur Conan Doyle.
"Sorry to keep you waiting."
Escaping my daydreaming I turn around to a blue eyed young man. The same one from the store.
"H.. hi i.. Is this um.. 96 Euston Rd, London NW1 2DB, United Kingdom?" I realized I had said the address way too fast and hadn't realized I said United Kingdom. God why was I so nervous. Oh right I'm standing in front of the guy that made me blush the first day I got here.
"Wow, yeah this is 'The Shelf' I'm Jason and you must be that beautiful woman I met the other day?'' His boyish cheery voice just made things harder for me to speak.
"Haha erm yeah I'm Anastasia Holmes, I'm here to meet Mr. Lennox." I was extremely nervous. I was sure this guy who looked to be in his mid 20's couldn't be Mr. Lennox.
"Ohh Frank, yeah he told me a girl would be coming by but I thought it would be sometime next week. You're the one Jack recommended for the job?"
"Yeah, I am. I'm actually just here to see the place and meet Mr. Lennox." He moved some books from a small green teal table and motioned me to sit in front of him. I saw his eyes gazing through me seeming to find something.
Well guess what buddy, you won't find anything.
"What are you hiding Anastasia?" His voice replaced from his once boyish cheery tone now husky.
My eyes widened. Did I say that out loud?!
"Wh- What??" If I wasn't nervous before I was certainly nervous now.
"You look tired and I see a lot of potential in you, I feel like you've gone through a lot."
This guy wasn't afraid of being honest.
"I think it's just jet lag." I tried to sound as convincing as possible.
He didn't look too convinced and it scared me that he could know. Ugh calm down Anna, you're just overthinking things like always.
"I've also seen and been through things Ann."
Did he just call me 'ANN'???
My heart started racing, no one had ever called me Ann. No one besides Rick.
His face softened. He must had realized I was getting too uncomfortable with this conversation.
"You wanna get something to eat?"
He asked now back in his cheery voice. He was scary, not Rick scary but scary for him to make me have butterflies one minute in my stomach and sweat dropping from my forehead the next. I was scared this guy could get something out of me and make me feel.
