~DANIELLE'S POV~

I've never been able to adapt to my life. I was always the awkward one. The one who's father died in a mysterious plane crash, and moved from everything I ever knew. But, I didn't really have much of a choice.

It all started a few weeks after I turned 16. I didn't have a party for my birthday, I just watched Netflix with two of my closest friends, Jessie and Tyler. It was February 24th, 2016. The three of us went out for some pizza, since my mum and Grandma were watching chick flicks all night.

We went to some random pizza place in Tyler's truck, since Jessie and I don't drive. He has one of the older trucks that have 3 seats in the front.

"Man, don't the stars look beautiful?" says Jessie, looking up at the stars.

"Since when have you ever thought the 'stars look beautiful'?" I say, as I scoff a little bit.

"I don't, normally. But something about tonight, I don't know, they just seem extra bright." says Jessie.

"Yeah, a little too bright." Tyler says, looking at the stars.

We got to the pizza place, and the man at the counter didn't seem like he really wanted to be there.

"Oh, great, more customers." he says, very quietly under his breath. But I still heard it.
"Hi." he says, not very enthusiastically.
"What do you guys wa-." he says, as a co-worker stops him, and gives him a look, telling him to be polite.
"Sorry, what can I get for you guys?

"Can we just get one large pepperoni pizza, and a 6-pack of Dr. Pepper, please." Tyler says.

"Yeah, sure, what ever." the cashier says, sounding annoyed and very bored.
"That will be $15.23."
Jessie and I both reach into our wallets, to get out some money. But Tyler stops us, as he pays for the pizza.

"Ty, you don't have to do that." I say, wanting to chip in.
"Yeah, you don't have to. I mean if you want to, that's cool with me too." Jessie says.
"No, no, guys, really, it's ok. I got a little raise at work, so I can pay for this." Tyler says, as he pulls the money out of his wallet.

We take the pizza and sit in the trunk of Tyler's truck, tail gate style. We sit, and gaze at the stars. We don't say much, since we were all eating pizza.

"You know what Jessie? You are right. The stars do seem a lot brighter tonight." I say, as I take another bite of my pizza.

"Yeah, they do." Jessie says, as she takes a sip of her drink.
"Maybe it's the sky's way of saying we need to do something."

"But, what is it telling us to do?" Tyler says, as he looks at me and Jessie.

"I have no idea." I say, as I look back up at the stars.

Little did I know, that was the last normal day of my life.
