I sigh as I get up. Time to get ready for school. Today is the first day of school after Christmas break. I really don't want to go to school. Maybe I could pretend to be sick?

No. I can't miss today. Apparently we are getting a transfer kid. I need to scope out his background to see if he will be a threat.

I take a shower and pick out an outfit. Black leggings with a long, teal t-shirt and a black scarf with brown combat boots.

I grab an apple and a granola bar for breakfast. I am a relatively skinny girl but at least my abs and muscles don't show. That would not bode well for my reputation. At school I am an outcast, nobody notices me and I'm fine with that. That is what I want. I get bullied and help others but what keeps me going is knowing what they would think of me if they knew about my other life.

I grab my keys, my book bag, and head out. Maybe after school I should go for a run, I thought to myself.

A twig snaps behind me, barely audible for the untrained ear but loud and crisp for mine. I whirl around to see who was spying on me. I see no one but get the feeling that I am being watched.

Uneasy, I trudge to my car. I barely noticed the scenery which I usually enjoy. I was thinking. Who could know where I live? I live practically in the middle of nowhere!

I shudder, tonight I was going to talk with the devil. He has some explaining to do.
