Bon x Rin (One Shots)

Forgotten Memories pt 3

Sorry that it took so long to get out this update. I wanted to do it sooner, but I was moving so that was pretty stressful... Anyways, enjoy the update! (Side note, song unrelated. I just really fucking love it)

Bon's POV

"Uhm. Who-o is Rin?"

All it took were those simple words to break me. I stared into those beautiful blue eyes and silently prayed that Rin was just joking. I waited for him to start laughing and say "I got you" in a mocking tone. But sadly, it never came.

I quietly let go of Rin's tiny hand and made my way to the door. I opened it while running down the hallway yelling "Doctor" to try and get some answers. I quickly located Doctor Nelm and told him something was off with Rin. He followed closely behind me while we walked back to the room Rin was staying in.

As we walked back into the room confusion was evident on Rin's face. "Hi Rin, I'm Doctor Nelm. I was wondering if I could ask you some questions, particularly about how you ended up here" Nelm's explained in a soft tone. Rin nodded his head and started on about how he ended up here. Despite me already knowing what happened, I listened intently, my concentration never leaving Rin's recap of events.

I was so focused on Rin that I didn't notice Doctor Nelm writing all of this down on his clipboard.

After Rin had finished Nelm whispered to me "let's talk outside" in a serious yet quiet voice. I nodded slowly and together we left the room leaving Rin with the promise of "we'll be back soon".

Once we were outside the door I glanced over at Nelm to finally figure out what was going on. He took a deep sigh and started walking over to a few chairs. I followed nervously, scared of finding out the truth of the situation.

Once seated the Doctor removed his glasses, rubbed his temples, and breathed out the words "he has short term memory loss"

My eyes widened as he looked at me seriously and continued. "Now I don't know for sure, but it's pretty obvious at this point. I can schedule him in for a neurologic exam, but all it will do is just confirm my theory".

I can feel tears form in the corner of my eyes, "so he doesn't remember me at all?" I ask in a choked sad voice. I don't care at this point how broken I sound. I just can't believe this is really happening.

"I'm afraid yes. He remembers basic things like how to read and write, but other than that, nothing". The Doctor cleared his throat and continued, "It'll take some time to get used to this, but there's no treatment. The only thing you can do is move on and help him learn. You have to remember that those memories aren't going to come back... I'm sorry, I really am" Nelm finished while patting my shoulder lightly. I smiled sadly at him and thanked him for his time.

A few hours pass of me just sitting on the chairs and contemplating things. 'So much for purposing' I chuckled sadly to myself. At the thought of no longer having the same Rin, the Rin I came to love and cherish, I started to cry. I just couldn't keep it in anymore. All the frustration and pain I've felt today just came crumbling out. Like a damn breaking, all my feelings poured out of me in shaky tears..

'God why are you so cruel?'

So that just happened. Yeah sorry for the feels yo. Next chapter will have Bon breaking the news to Rin :^(
