The Last Man on Earth

The man walks across the deserted land, aimlessly wandering. He had nowhere left to go. Everyone else on Earth was gone. The land was desolate. For hundreds of years, the resources of the world had diminished more and more until there was nothing left. Most people had starved to death. A few had been murdered for rations. The man had survived. He falls to his knees, and rests his head on his hands. These were the last moments of his life and he knew it. He remembered the highlights of his life, from when the Earth was flourishing. The man thought of his beautiful wife. His unborn children. All the things he wished he'd done. The man never regretted a decision he made though. He was happy, but now he was alone. The man smiled and turned his face up to the sun, basking in the light. A tear rolled down his face as he whispered, "I'll be with you soon, love," then fell gently to the side, closing his eyes eternally.
