"Have you guys met the new kid?" West asked as we reached our meeting spot under an old oak that stretched toward the sky. Man did this tree bring back some memories.
"What new student?" Sadie questioned, confusion written around her light peach features.
I chuckled at her and shook my head. "Weren't we talking about how there was an attractive new student who was gonna be transferred here?" I reminded her, as I situated my backpack on my shoulder so that would slip off my shoulders.
Confusion was still prominent on her features. I sighed. Honestly she has the memory of an old lady or a squirrel, I thought silently. I stared at her intensely. "The one that's the headmistress's nephew?" I suggested, recognition dawn in her expression.
"Oh right!" said Sadie as she remembered our earlier conversation.
"What does he look like?" Anne asked, looking at West for an answer.
West, I noticed, gave her an almost jealous look though I could tell Anne didn't notice. " He's got blonde hair and blue eyes. He's about as tall as me. He kinda seems like one of jocks, though," West explained frowning slightly.
"Is he attractive?" Anne asked at the same time that Sadie asked," how do you know so much about him?"
"I was the one to give him a tour around the school. And he also might be my new dorm mate, since you know my last one was..." His voice trailed off, as he focused on me, concern and surprise in his deep brown eyes.
Carter, I mentally finished. Why did he have to bring up this subject? Memories flooded in like a broken dam making me visually grimace. My hands began to shake and my eyes began to well up with tears. Anxiety began to flow through my veins, as I began to sink deeper and deeper, all the while forgetting my surroundings.
"Hey, Kia!" A called to me in concern after I had finally slowed my rapid breath to an almost normal pace. In a blur stood West, his eyes focused down on me. His dark eyebrows drawn together in concern.
"Breath," called Anne's voice, her eyes looking down on me with the equal amount of concern as West, possibly even more.
"I'm fine," I muttered, as I attempted to stand.
Though I found that I was weak in the knees, Sadie grabbed my arm and helped me up. "That's a total lie," Sadie said, calling me out on my obvious lie.
"Can we get to class? Please?" I said, dismissing their concern.
"Sure," breathed Anne her eyes still focused intensely at me. Her eyes shone bright with concern.
"How long has it been since you had the last one?" Sadie questioned as we began walk to the main building where the class was held.
"A while, ok. Can we please talk about this later?" I said in exasperated manner before turning won my heel and walking away from them. I could practically feel the three of them glance at each other, their concern shared, before looking back at me as I strode toward the school.
All that concerned me at the moment was getting to class. And not being late. Again.
Upon entering the classroom I hurried to save the others a seat. As gaze focused on where I usually sat there a group of students crowded around. What the heck is going on?
As I strode over I began to push my way through the group of people, saying a few excuses mes as I did. There sitting at the center of the storm of people sat a charming and attractive looking guy.His blonde hair was slightly wavy and obviously was styled. His blue eyes focused on mine almost immediately. He smiled charmingly at me. But when I opened my mouth to say something the other thing I could think so say was a rather rude," you're sitting in my seat."
His eyes instantly darted to where he was sitting and back to me. "Oh! My apologies," he said as picked up his stuff and moved to the next seat over at the long table.
"Everyone take your seats," called a loud and commanding voice. I turned to look to see our teacher had walked through door, as well as Sadie, Anne and West. Those of which hurried to find a seat. Since our table was about filled Sadie and Anne sat on the other side of the blue eyed boy. West sat at the end of the table behind us, his table a foot taller than ours. The desks or tables were much like the ones you see in colleges or tv shows where the class room was almost like an auditorium where the desks were elevated so that everyone could see.
West gave me a questioning gaze as he sat down in his new seat. I could merely shrug my shoulders, there wasn't much to explain.
"Hello class my name Ms Clark. I shall be your new homeroom teacher as of this year," she paused look over the class before grabbing a clipboard to start attendance. Before she began she quickly glanced up from clipboard as if remembering something. "I nearly forgot," she said whispering to herself. "Class we have a new student," she announced, the blue eyed boy beside me stood from his seat. "His name is..um," her gaze scanning the sheet of paper in front of her. "His name is..hmm it seems that the administration doesn't have your name on the attendance yet. What is your name young man?" Ms Clark said looking up at him.
"My name is Nathaniel Ward," He announced, smiling respectfully Ms Clark.
"Are you the Silvia's nephew?" Ms Clark questioned.
"Yeah, I am," he replied, sitting back down.
"Class please treat young Mr. Ward as kindly as you would treat any one of your other classmates," Ms Clark called to the rest of the class giving them stern look before diving into what the class would be about and cover.
