“Ah, okay” I mumbled, my cheeks warming when I followed and sat down beside him.

A whirlwind began when I sat down, people were all around were placing food laden plates in front of everyone. Sybil took her fork and started to dig in without even looking up at the girl who gave her, her food.

“Thank you.” I smiled at the small girl who served me. I looked down to see the most delicious looking meal I’d ever seen. Mashed potatoes, gray, some sort of meant and many things I’d never seen before. A sparkling clear liquid bubbled in a goblet beside the plate. I tried a little bit of everything, it ll seemed to melt on my tongue. It slid down my throat and I instantly began to feel full. The clear liquid bubbles and filled my mouth the moment it touched my tongue. I watched as Alrik’s friends laughed and talked to each other. Azalea was very clearly flirting with Evander but he seemed oblivious to her.  I sensed  Sybil watching me and once I looked up my suspicions were confirmed. Her dark eyes glared at me through her dyed black bangs. I swept my eyes over to Alrik and tired to ignore her eyes boring into my head.

“um..Do you want to go for a walk with me?” I asked Alrik, my eyes pleading.

“Sure!” He said, confusion evident on his face, i didn’t really care, I just wanted out of there. We walked out of the dining hall and my stomach growled as I thought of all the food I was missing.

“I don’t think your sister likes me.” I blurted the moment the doors closed behind us.

“She doesn’t like anyone!” Alrik laughed at what must hve been a pathetic look on my face. “ I don’t think she even likes me half the time. If she did like you, then I would be worried. Alrik laughed and winked at me, taking my hand in his.

Alrik and I walked for what seemed like no time at all, but was probably more like a few hours. We found our way to my room and sat on the railing of my balcony. Our toes hanging  precariously over the edge, we talked. We talked about everything there was to talk about. My abundance of foster parents, how much his parents loved him. My days on the streets; his days high up in the mountains. Eventually we both grew tired and he headed out to his families apartment. I took a running start and flew into my big, soft bed. I snuffled down into the soft down of the thick comforter and stayed there until morning.

I woke to warmth splashed across my face, little by little I squinted my eyes open, the sunlight blinding me. I twisted over and pressed my face into a pillow. I slowly started to remember where I was and once I did, i jumped up and ran to my closet. I looked dwon to see I was still wearing my dress from yesterday. I looked around for a new dress. Pressed behind dozens of other gowns I found a purple dress with a dark ruffled skirt.

“Perfect!” I squealed and threw it on. I found a pair of black heels and tucked them onto my feet. I ran brush through my hair, straightening out the waves and ran out the door. Smashing right into one of the twins I met last night.

“Er..Ev...uhm...Hi!” I stuttered not able to tell which twin I’d fallen into.

“Eryx.” He said in a smooth, velvety voice, one eyebrow cocked. His huge hands gripped my elbows to steady me; his chocolate brown eyes staring into mine.  “What are you doing?” He glared.

“Well..I was..Nothing! I wasn’t doing anything, not that it’s any of your business.” I looked up at him defiantly.

“Oh? Usually girls who run into me like that have something important going on.” He winked at me. He was so aggravating! Looking at me, one of his eyebrows bent, and one of the sides of his moth turned up. It took everything in me not to slap him then and there. He looked into my eyes for a moment, then let go of my elbows. He pushed me away, making a noise like a scoff and stalked off.
