"Settle down! Ok class, today we will be discussing a project you will be doing with a partner. I have already pre-chosen partners." Ms. Izzy explained to the class. The last pair to be called by Ms. Izzy was "Mikey and Connie." "Today's gonna be a good day, the day that I persuade Mikey that I'm his Juliet!" Connie thought hopefully. Mikey sighed. Ms. Izzy then explained what the project was about. "Ok class, so for this project, you and your partner will have to preform a play, I will put names of plays from a hat. What you get is what you get, no complaints!" After about a minute, Ms. Izzy got to Connie and Mikey, who now have to sit next to each other. She pulled the play, Romeo and Juliet. "There is a kiss scene near the end, it's optional, you won't get extra points if you do it. I prefer you not, just my opinion." Ms. Izzy told them.
"We should do the kissing scene!" Connie said over-excitedly.
"She said it's optional, and I don't wanna do it." Mikey said shifting uncomfortably.
"Why not? Don't you like me?" Connie asked flirtatiously.
"Get the message. I. Don't. Like. You. Like no offense or anything." Mikey said without hesitating.
Connie sniffed.
"Ok..." Connie said while holding back her tears.
"Tell the resource (class where you do homework) teacher that you need to go work in the hallway on a project. I'll tell her the same." Mikey said.
"O-o-ok." Connie stammered.
At Connie's House After School
Connie burst into tears. "How can he not love me?! I'm perfect for him! How dare he!?" Connie was desperate for someone, anyone, to talk to. But she had no one. She cried and cried until she ran out of tears.
