“Kira, Kira?” The teacher said, I looked up at him and smiled.
“Yes sir?” I answered politely. The teacher’s hard frown didn’t falter as he repeated the question, I should have been listening earlier.
“I’m sorry sir, I don’t know the answer” I said as innocently as possible.
“And why is that Kira?” He asked clearly annoyed that I hadn’t been listening.
“Because I wasn’t paying attention sir” I told him, trying to end the conversation quickly, the longer it went on the more attention was paid to me.
“Well at least you can admit it, what about you Calum, are you paying enough attention to answer the question?” Clearly Mr Rohman didn’t really care if students weren’t paying attention, as long as they could admit it. When I turned around to look at Calum, he was giving me a funny look, and not in a good way. Once class ended I rushed out and headed straight for my locker. I wanted to get home to my little sister. Just before I reached my locker I was tugged into a small class room. And there was Calum.
“You did well you know, fooling all of us. But it’s up now, you’re gonna get sent away. To live in the HMF centre.” He finished proud that he had found my secret. He ran his hand through his thick black hair before darting out of the room. I went to open the door when I thought better of it, if he knew, he could have told his friends. And that would be bad. Instead I turned and ran to the window, and opened it. I jumped out of it and began running home. It was time for the finale, I was either gonna get caught, or spend the rest of my life on the run. I knew that the houses would be getting notified as I passed them, sprinting as fast as I could. When I finally reached my house, I ran in to find my little sister sitting down and reading a book, she was only four.
“Kira!” she screamed in delight.
“We have to leave Alice.” I struggled to tell her as I caught my breath. I picked her up, and she hugged me. She was getting heavy, but I needed to get us both away quickly. I ran out the door and didn’t look back. I looked at the foot path, did I stay in the suburban area, or go to the forest. Either way they would catch me quickly, but at least I stood a chance in the forest. So that’s where I headed, into the forest. I jumped the fallen; tree’s and tried not to trip on my own feet, or fall from exhaustion. Branches grazed my skin, and I could faintly hear Alice complain when they scratched her. I heard a foot step behind me, I spun around to see who it was, but no one was there. I quickly continued running, knowing that they would catch up to me in seconds.
CRUNCH. That was defiantly the sound of dead leaves being stepped on, this time when I turned around and there was a naked man there. I spun around and went to escape when more men appeared out of the darkness. Guess they found me. Each of them were tall, muscly and naked. I kept my eyes turned up to the men away from their business.
“Kira, come with us. We won’t hurt you” The first one I saw said. I spun around again looking for the best escape. The men were slowly walking inwards forming a tight circle around me. “We want to help you Kira” the same man kept talking in a calming voice, but it didn’t help.
“I don’t want your help, I’m not going with you” I screamed fear eating at my self-control. I looked from each man to the next, one of them was slightly smaller than all the others, probably new to the job. They all shared the same hard face, the one that showed a life of power and fighting.
