"I missed you."

"I missed you so fucking much, Chris."

As he and Richard were walking up the stairs to their apartment, he kept thinking about what Sadie had said. Can't a girl have some fun?

When their apartment door was closed, Richard turned towards his friend. His mouth opened, Chris' phone cutting him off. His face heated up, apologizing, answering it.

"Hey sweetie!"

"Hi, mom." He put on a fake smile, rolling his eyes.

Richard stifled a laugh. Shut up, he mouthed at his friend.

"Are you coming down to see us for Christmas?"

"Uh..."

"Christian, you can't make up excuses anymore," her voice became stern. "So when will we see you?" It became cheerful again.

He looked over at Richard, who was getting comfortable on the couch. He turned to give Chris a bright smile, with a slightly confused expression.

"Fine." Chris sighed, hearing his mother tell someone he was coming, on her end of the phone. When he hung up, Richard spoke up.

"So how's your mom?"

"Get ready to meet my parents."

"Wow, I didn't know we were at that stage in our relationship."

"Shut up."
