I tip-toe down the hall, being as quiet as I can be. I look at all the green and red Christmas lights surrounding the hallways and banisters.

I creep towards Miguels room, making sure not to wake up Mommy and Daddy.

"Miguel," I whisper, loudly.

He tosses in his race car bed, getting up, and running his hands up and down his face.

"Rosaline! What are you doing up so early?" He whispers, furiously.

"It's Christmas, buba!" I say, a smile making its way onto my face.

"Yes. I suppose you're right, Rosa" he says, tossing the coverlets from his legs, and coming towards me.

We make our way down the hall and stop when we hear, "what are you munchkins doing up?".

We freeze and don't dare turn around. Then a set of hands are on my waist hauling me over their shoulder.

He runs down the hall with me still over his shoulder, our laughs echoing, through the empty corridor.

Finally, Daddy, sets me down and squats in front of me.

"Daddy, I love you" I say, palming his cheek with my small hands.

"And I you, Roza".

I feel something wet slide down my face as I wake from the hallucination. My emotions bunched together. Feelings I can't process rushing through me in a haze.

I struggle against the ropes binding my legs and arms to the cool table.

"She coming around, boss!" A voice says from somewhere around me.

"Put her back under! And keep coming with the DNA test," A powerful voice says.

Then I'm out like a light.

"Daddy, please don't leave. Not again," I plead, tears staining my face. Miguel's small arms wrapped around my torso holding me back. I struggle against his tight hold, my tears now coming in streams; reaching out towards my father. But, its no use, Miguel has a guerilla grip on me.

"I wont. I'll be back," he says, giving me a wet kiss on my cheek and tussling Miguel's curly hair. Making him smile. But at a time like this is smiling really appropriate?

"Please" I plead, limping against Miguel. Instead of listening to me, daddy gets up and leaves me sitting in the middle of a dark corridor. My silent sobs only heard my Miguel.

Miguel lets go of me once he realizes that I have calmed down and before he has a chance to stop me, I sprint down the hallway. My bare feet paddling against the cool tile floor. The cold air biting into my skin, almost painfully.

Bang!

Bang, bang!

The sound of guns sound around me, filling me up with dread and anxiousness.

"Hey! You, stop!" a foreign voice says, making the silhouette of my dad come to a hault, and me to dive behind the closest wall for protection.

"It's your time, Sr. Tuhuni. I'm done with you shit, you incapatible fucker!" The voice says, before implanting a bullet in my father's stomach.

In that moment it is like the world stopped. It felt as if I was going into shock. It took everything I had to breath. Forcefully I take gulps of air. And scream. Scream so loud the man that killed my father jumps at the sound.
