She was the most beautiful person I had ever seen. Her hair was a cream brown color that you couldn't resist. Her eye's were a deep blue oasis that you could swim in forever if given the time. Her skin, a golden pale that you never wanted to take your eyes off. Yet in all her beauty, she seemed insecure. She didn't talk to anyone like she kept to herself. Like she couldn't see how beautiful she really was. How every boy there wanted her. I wanted to know her. I had to.
She was walking to a table that seated a big family, I assumed it was her's. There were three girls, not including her, and fives boys. Her parents looked really happy and that made me smile because my own family hadn't looked like that in a long time. Not since dad left...
She started to walk back to the pool for one last swim and she dropped a locket. I picked it up and looked at it. That's when I got the courage to talk to her. That's when I met her.
"Excuse me, you dropped this," I said as I walked up to her.
Her hand quivered as I handed her the locket. She was breathing fast. She had a beauty mark near her eye. The one thing that would make her like a mortal. Not godess like.
"Oh, thank you. If I'd lost this I might have cri-"
She stopped talking, and looked at me like she had just seen the most beautiful creature ever. That is all I am now. A creature.
"I'm sorry for staring. I don't talk to many people."
"No, I'm sorry for being so easy to stare at."
She started laughing like it was the funniest thing in the world. Her laugh was as beautiful as she was.
"What's your name?"
"Andrew, Andrew Sullivan. Yours?"
"Brena. Brena Parks."
We shook hands and she kind of laughed. It was the cute kind of laugh. One that I still hear.
"Well I have to go but I'll give you my number. See you around Andrew."
917-358-7794. That was her number. I call her phone and just listen to her voicemail sometimes. Just to hear her voice. Just one last time.
