"Come and get me!" I screamed. The battle had just started, and yet the press was already gathering around the edges of the square. Not close enough to get hit, but not too far. They still want pictures.

Anger bubbled inside me.  Commander deserves what he's going to get. Everyone will feel my wrath. Every superhero, every law enforcer, everyone who under estimated me. They'll all be sorry.

The brown haired superhero was standing across the empty square, staring directly at me. Not blinking, not moving. Almost too late, I realized what he was doing. I pulled my hand upwards from my side and a thick black wall appeared and solidified, blocking the laser Commander had fired from his eyes. I breathed a sigh of relief. That was close. I thought to myself. maybe this was a bad idea.

"No! Elizabeth Monroe, you know why you are doing this! Even if you wanted to turn back, there's no way that you can now." I heard a deep, booming laugh.

"Giving yourself a pep talk, huh? Well, Nox Somnia," Commander spat my name. "You might want to focus on the task at hand." he picked up a car and threw it at me, missing me only because I dodged to the side quickly. I blasted into the air on a column of the thick, black, gooey substance that I had grown to call "sludge". I saw Commander hover in the air level to me. Commander began to charge towards me, but with a flick of my wrist, a clump of sludge oozed up from the ground, shot into the air, and knocked Commander off course. It's almost too easy. I thought.

Below me, I see cameras flashing, almost blinding in the evening light. Time seemed to move in slow motion. I could see the large rock the Commander had used his telekinesis to hurl at me. I was powerless to stop it. I fell off of my sludge tower, falling towards the ground. it was all I could do to create a sludge cushion beneath me to soften my fall. Still on my back, I held up my fist, creating a large version of it in sludge, ten times harder that the actual thing. I send it flying through the air towards Commander.

He saw it coming and held up his own fist to meet it, splitting it in the air with a sickening crack. I could see the cameras flashing along with Commander's million dollar smile. he was acting as though I had already been beaten. Laying motionless on the ground, I fomed another glob of sludge and sent it up into the air while Commander's back was turned. The sludge surrounded him and wrestled him to the ground, smothering him until I was sure the he had passed out.

I was out of the city before the press could react.
