The Knockout

I threw a punch, it connected with a thunk to Wilson's jaw. Wilson dropped to the floor, his jaw clearly broken, and a few teeth missing, blood starting to pool around his head. His eyes glazed over, and I knew I had won, the ref (who was really just a mutual observer) was at 8, 9, 10 Knockout! The ref raised my arm, as the medic walked over to Wilson, before coming to check out my bloody nose, and broken hand. A few years ago I would probably be sprinting down the street horrified at what I had just done, but I had come to peace with my conscious, knowing that I never did it for fun, I did it to survive, and only to survive.

Right after the medic cleared me I felt someone jump on my back. "You did it! With the prize we should be set for at least 2 weeks" My brother George said, finally getting off my back. " I don't know what you mean by we, I'm set for at least a month" I say emphasizing I'm as I turned away to hide the smile creeping onto my face. "James come on I'm your brother." he wined with a hint of panic in his voice. "So." I respond with a shrug as I get my prize money from the ref. As George starts to whine my best friend Adam comes up patting George's back and whispers not that quietly "He's kidding" " Ohhhh. Okay" George says embarrassed, and me and Adam break out laughing.

" Alright let's go get some food, and a new skateboard, with these brand new Benjamin's!" Adam says, and I smirk at his immaturity. "Alright fine. God knows we all need food." I respond with a sigh. "That's the spirit Damien, now let's go" Adam practically shouts as he takes off on his skateboard, before I can hit him for using my whole name. I just sigh and get on my skateboard following him.

We end up going to a semi fancy restaurant in between the rich, and poor parts of chicago. All I can say is that was the best I have eaten since before the incident. Adam had stuffed his face so much that he could barely walk, much less skateboard, so we ended up walking to a bar 3 blocks down, we were all in the mood to get drunk, well except for me I don't drink. I was going solely to make sure Adam or George didn't end up ran over or in a fight.

Tobin's P.O.V~

"Alex how many times do I have to say I'm fine I don't need to get drunk." I say for the 15th time tonight, as Alex got ready for us to go to the bar. "Tobin you need to get over your breakup, and to do that you need to get drunk, and meet some hot guys, okay." Alex responds. I start to protest, but Alex cuts me off saying "Sorry. I shouldn't have made that sound like a question. You ARE going to go to the bar, and that is the last I want to hear about it. Do you understand?" "Yes man." I say, and I hear Kelley snickering, so I throw a pillow at her hitting her head, and knocking her off her bed. As I laugh something semi soft hits my face, and I see Alex trying to conceal a smile, and I hear Kelley say "Ha Ha" "Tobin go get changed' Alex says the smile still hearable in her voice. "Fine." I mumble as I walk to the bathroom with the clothes Alex threw at me.

When I come out I see Alex and Kelley whispering about something, and when I ask they say it's nothing, which is clearly a lie, but I decide to let it go, and grab my phone, as a follow Alex and Kelley out the door. When we get in the taxi, Alex finally caves and says "I'm sorry I shouldn't have been so pushy. If you really don't want to go, we don't have to." "Don't worry about, and we are not going back now. You got me in the mood to get drunk." I say getting a laugh out of Alex and Kelley.

When we arrive at the bar a tall guy who is holding a skateboard, and standing with his friends catches my eye. As I'm staring he see's me, and flashes a smile that could blind most people. I quickly turn away, and feel my cheeks heating up. Kelley notices and laughs "What do you already have a crush. We just got here, this is going to be easier than I thought" she says. "Shut up" I growl, and smack her in the arm. "Come on let's go" Alex says.
