"Thanks for helping me out," you sigh, checking the dial on the oven again before turning to Seokmin, leaning against the counter. "This bake sale would have been a flop if you didn't help me."
Seokmin grins, shaking his head. "Nah, it's no problem. Besides, I'm sure the bake sale is going to be super successful whether I help you or not. Everyone loves you at school; they're bound to buy a cookie or two even if they taste like rocks."
"Are you saying my cookies taste like rocks?" You teased, making him turn read as you walked over to another cabinet, searching for ingredients to make the cake frosting.
"No, your cookies are great, (y/n). You know that," he smiles, watching your behind as you grab a pack of icing sugar on your tippy toes. "So, when do we get to do a cake taste?" He asks, rubbing his hands together in anticipation.
You glance at the time before plopping the things down on the table. "I think in a few minutes so let's whip up the frosting before it's done."
You read out the ingredients, doing a roll-call of sorts, and Seokmin swallows, stepping around so he was next to you. He should have done it by now – confesses, he means. But he was waiting for the right time and right place to do it...which apparently never seemed to occur the few years he's had a crush on you.
You pour the icing sugar in a bowl, and plunked the butter in, reading the instructions to yourself as you turned on the electric mixer. You looked nice, even in nothing but sweats and a t-shirt, enjoying the comfort of your own home. No make-up, hair slightly messy and a spec of cake batter stuck to the corners of your mouth but still, you looked as lovely as ever.
He should really tell you about that spec though.
"Hey, you have something – " You turn to him and without thinking, he reaches out and removes it with his own hands, his fingers brushing past your lips. He freezes, realizing his action as the two of you stare at each other, unable to figure out what to do next.
Thankfully, the timer rings and you let out a small 'oh!' before retrieving the baked goods. Seokmin grimaces while you slide the cake out of the oven, cringing at himself. What was he thinking? Well, obviously he wasn't thinking much –
He needed something to ease the tension.
So, he dips his fingers in the frosting batter and walks over to you, his hand hiding behind his back. "The cake came out really good!" You exclaim, looking over at him excitedly. "I think – "
Your sentence is stopped short by a swipe of frosting across your nose. You inhale deeply and hold your breath inching closer towards Seokmin who was beginning to back away. "Nice look, (y/n). Really, you're too much sometimes. I said people would buy your things so doing this is really overdoing it," he jokes, laughing as you chased him around the kitchen.
"Lee Seokmin, get over here and take responsibility for your actions!" You yelped, grabbing some frosting of your own. You manage to reach him and wipe your entire hand on his face, covering his entire cheek. You don't have time to hold back your laughter as he begins to chase you around, the two of you laughing.
Somehow, he manages to corner you and grins, his eyes crinkling as he placed one hand against he wall, above your shoulders. You looked up, your face bright with laughter as the two of you stood there in the corner of your kitchen, frosting all over each other.
"I've got you now." Seokmin realizes he really wasn't thinking at all when he's around you. You looked even cuter with the frosting all over your face. "(y/n)," He says slowly. "I – I like you."
Your eyes go wide before you let out a small laugh. "I was wondering when you were going to confess."
Seokmin doesn't have time to process what you say before you throw your arms around his neck and give a long kiss, making him wonder if it was the frosting that made your kisses so sweet or if it was just you.
It probably was just you, though.
