Vernon and I have been best friends since we were 4 years old. We talk every day; we spend almost every day together. Basically, we have the ideal friendship. He's also the ideal friend. He comforts me when I'm sad, he makes me laugh when I cry, and he buys me things sometimes. But, something is up with him.
For the past few days, it seems like he's been avoiding me. This is really odd. I would text him or call him every day but, no response. I even tried going to his house but, his mom said he wasn't home. Have I done something wrong? That's it. I'm talking to him, whether he likes it or not.
I took out the spare key he gave me and unlocked his front door. I close it and march right up to his room. I can hear him playing his video in his room. When I opened the door, he looked at me, surprised.
"Y/N?! Why are you here?"
"Have I done something wrong?!"
"What are you talking about?"
"Why have you been avoiding me?!"
"Y/N..."
"Do you not want to be friends anymore?"
"Of course I want to be your friend!"
"You're not acting like it! What's up with you?"
"Y/N IT'S HARD TO EXPLAIN!"
"Try me."
"Please don't make me try to..."
"Why not Vernon?! What is your problem?!"
"You're my problem! You're always looking so beautiful and you're always so nice to me! It's so hard to resist you! You're way too perfect and you don't even know it! I love you Y/N!"
He took a deep breath and sat down. I was frozen in my spot but, then, reality hit me. My heart is racing and I'm tingling. Do I love him too? I finally moved and sat next to him.
"Why didn't you tell me this sooner?"
"I didn't want to ruin our friendship..."
There was another silence in the room.
"I love you too Vernon."
Vernon looked at me so fast; I'm surprised he didn't snap his neck. He looked in your eyes to see if I was lying. I wasn't.
"You do?"
"Yes. I just didn't realize it until now."
He smiled at me. Oh, how I missed his smile. He came closer to you and brought you into his embrace. You felt so warm and safe. You didn't want to let go and neither did he. You guys just stayed like that for a while.
