Chapter 16 A Sinking Feeling

They continue to fly through the air as they begin to pass from the ozone into the stratosphere​.
"Just a little bit further" King insisted.
The large amount of air pressure forces Ace to close his eyes, as he slightly tightened his grip on Acelin.
His Wings continued to cut through the air like a butter knife as they continue to go higher.
The whistling of the wind catches Ace' attention as he starts to feel himself fall victim to gravity.
He opens his eyes and sees a large lush forest that continues to get closer.
He retracts his wings and tries to regain balance as the wind blows furiously.
Wait.
"King, where is Acelin" Ace asked.
"I don't know, weren't you carrying her before we fell through" he answered.
Ace' eyes quickly begin to scan over the area, skimming over the few clouds that still lay dormant in the sky.
"There she is" Ace pointed, as she fell unconsciously through the air.
Out of the corner of Ace' eye he could see a large stone structure, standing in the very center of the forest that was canopy by the thick greenery.
If im not quick enough, she will soon hit the ground. And i don't even think someone as powerful as her can withstand that fall.
Ace starts to straighten out his body and place his arms to his side as he dives head first towards Acelin.
Once he had finally reached her, he extended his hand and pulled her in.
He quickly raps his wings around her and braced himself for the impact.
BOOM.

"Im tired of this stupid homework. Why do we have to still work on the same topic in math, even though we've already done five test" the girl asked.
"Probably because everyone in the class besides you, Me and Lucin, are stupid. They are so clouded by their petty anger about the demon in Cetix tower to actually notice how retarded they are" the boy answered.
The two walk across a worn gravel path as they traverse the short way back to their village.

"Shane, is it just me or are you more judgmental than usua-"
BOOM.

Large clouds of dust sprout into the air as the close by trees and foilage bend away from the explosion.
"What was that" the girl asked.
"I don't know Jenn but i believe it came from the center of town"

"ACE...ACELIN" King yelled as he dropped to the ground with enough force to cause a earthquake.
He runs up to the large pile of rubble that covered Ace and Acelin.
He starts to pull back large boulders and rocks while he desperately searches for his brother.
He begins to see a light glow of blue through the rubble and started to move faster.
There he is.
Ace laid on his back as he cocooned Acelin with his wings.
Once all the weight of stone had been removed, Ace' wings started to unwrap from around Acelin.
King pulled up Acelin as the rocks around them crumbled.
Gray dust laid on Ace' silver hair as King pulled him out too.
"PUT YOUR HANDS IN THE AIR" several knights yelled at King as he finally pulled out Ace.
"Umm. We don't want any trouble" King announced putting his hands in the air.
The knights had surrounded King as someone with a gold trimmed cloak walked through them.
That person must be their leader.
"How can you waltz into our village. Destroy our most sacred Statue and say you don't want any trouble"
Crap. I know that i can probably defeat them but the last thing i want is for the Queen to know were here.
"I apologize. In an attempt to save this girl. My brother encased her in his wings and crashed into your statue. Im sorry"
The woman looks over at Ace and Acelin and looked back at king.
"I believe you. Knights get the injured male to the infirmary"
"Yes lord" the knights answered as four of them carried Ace.
"Meanwhile. I want to have a talk with you" the woman said towards king.
"Okay"

"THAT TWIG IS A HYBRID" the woman screamed.
"What do you mean by Twig" King adjusted.
"I didn't mean it as an insult. Its just whenever i hear about hybrids. I think of those close to like Hercules. I'm sorry i don't believe i caught your name"
"Its King. And yours"
"I'm Luciana"
"Well...the three of us are here to confront the Queen. So i would appreciate it if you don't tell her of us being here"
"Why would I. She's been vigorously taxing my village evey since she came into power. She can rot in hell for all i care"
"So you think she taxes you more than others"
"I don't think. I know. I had a meeting with the other close by villages and they told me that she taxes me twice as much as she taxes them"
"Do you know why"
"Now that think about it. Its probably because that Witch Alexiana lived here before going to the human world"
"Wait ALEXIANA"
Thats the woman that raised Ace for his whole life. The one i was ordered to kill.
"Yeah. Everyone in the village hated her for constantly causing trouble with her spells and potions. But the thing most people are upset about is what she left us in the tower"
"What do you mean"
"She had a child. A daughter"
