Troye's POV
~Time Skip~Clang CLANG CLANG!
Loud ringing filled the classroom, signalling that it was time to head to lunch, which could be, depending on your school status, could be the best or worst part of your day. Considering the fact that I wasn't exactly the most popular or positive person in my new school, I would probably be spending lunch in the library.Traipsing out of the room, I began heading in the direction of the library, narrowly avoiding a few people on the way. Speeding up, I broke into a quick trot, not wanting to have to talk to someone or end up seeing Tyler again. I wanted to be alone, and my destination would most likely grant that wish.
Passing by several classrooms, I noticed the library nearby and made a beeline for it.
"Troye!"
Are you serious!?
Tyler was waving at me from inside the cafeteria, beckoning at me. Frozen in place, I stayed where I was until I realized what he wanted me to do.
He wants me to join him in that hell hole?! Is he insane?!
Coming back to my senses, I did the only thing that would get me out of this situation. And that was to run.
Shooting out of the doorway, through the corridor and into the library. Luckily for me, no one even glanced at me when I suddenly ran inside, panicky and out of breath, except for two boys with fringes, who only looked up from their work for a second.Finding a comfortable chair, concealed behind a few bookshelves, I collapsed into it and caught my breath.
Well, as long as I can avoid the cafeteria for the rest of the year, I should be fine and dandy.
~Time Skip~ (sorry I'm obsessed)
Watching from the very back seat, I noted that Tyler didn't appear to be in my music class, which would make this class a lot easier. Sinking down in my chair, to the point where you could only see the top of my head, I waited till the teacher started class. The teacher stood up slowly and walked to the front of the room, and began his long, meaningless speech in a bored tone, droning on and on. Out of the blue, the door swung open dramatically, as a certain person pranced into the room, seemingly not bothered by his late arrival. Just glancing at him, the teacher continued with his welcome speech, as Tyler headed towards an open seat near his group of beaming friends.
Keep low, he hasn't noticed you yet.
Finally, the teacher ended his speech and began to announce what our first assignment was. "For the next few months, our class will be working together to write their own songs, and finally performing them in front of us. I will be pairing newer people with the older ones, and separating a few different groups."
I groaned audibly, and sunk further into my seat, hoping he'd just overlook me when choosing pairs, even though I knew I was doomed to paired with someone irritating. There was no problem with the actual assignment, I could write music, sing, play the piano and more, but, I hated pair work.
Tuning back into what the teacher was saying, I heard him finish listing the partners, and watched in horror as the rest of the class formed their pair.
CRAP, I don't know my partner and everyone's already paired up, I look like an complete idiot!
I jumped, yelping a little as an unknown person tapped me on the shoulder. "Relax, it me!", a happy voice laughed from behind me. It was Tyler. "Are you my partner?", I asked stupidly, "Of course, weren't you listening?", he replied. I stayed silent. "Come on, we have to start some time this century!", he said, after I had been sitting there for a few seconds. He sat himself down nearby, before turning to face me and asking,"So, Troye, do you have any mysterious talents I should know about?". "Umm, I can write music, sing, and play the piano, how about you?", I murmured in response. "Oh I can't do anything music related, but I can film, what if we make a music video!?", he rambled excitedly, beginning to list off ideas for how to present our song. After letting him talk for a couple minutes, I broke in,"Tyler, I um.. already started writing some songs before this, I could maybe work on them and show you next time..". "That's perfect, it'll make the job a lot easier! Anyway, it's really important that we...", I blocked his voice out, nodding now and then so that he wouldn't suspect anything. Finally, the bell rang, reminding me that this was the last class of the day, and I could finally go home.
"Hey Troye, I'm guessing you didn't listen at all, so I'll give you my number so we can go over it again.", he said suddenly, smirking at my obviously reddening face. Stuttering, I accepted his phone and passed him mine, quickly putting in my number. As soon as I got mine back, I got up and said in a rush,"Bye Tyler, I need to get my bus!", and ran out the room, not waiting for his reply. Reaching my locker, I unlocked it and threw my stuff in, grabbing a few things before slamming it shut, and racing to the bus and away from school and Tyler.
Slowing down, I jogged the rest of the short distance, climbed into the bus, and slipped into a random seat. Leaning back and shutting my eyes, I blocked out the world until I heard someone sit down silently next to me. I decided to look up, and saw that it was one of the boys from the library, wearing a black shirt and skinny jeans, looking right back at me. "Hey, I'm Troye.", I said suddenly, yelling at myself for saying anything to this guy. "... I'm Dan", he shyly replied. This guy was definitely a negative, and a quiet one at that, so at least talking to him wouldn't be exhausting.
We talked on and off for the rest of the ride, and he gave me a tiny wave when I got off the bus. Smiling at him, I waved back, and walked into my house. It was empty, my parents weren't home yet and my siblings were probably out with their new friends, since all of them were positives who had been really popular in their old school. Quietly, I walked up the stairs and slipped into my room, instantly feeling at ease. Throwing myself onto my bed, I shut my eyes slowly, watching my fairy lights, ceiling, and room dissolve into a blur of grays, blues, and blacks. Sighing softly, I reveled in The Quiet and fell into a light sleep.
Heellllooo! I don't know how I managed to write 1100+ words, I was initially aiming for 700! Just to let you know, I've been living in Japan my whole life so I have no idea about American schools, and I'm in middle school so my knowledge of high school is lacking. Anyway, just wondering, what do you think of Tyler and Troye's characters? Any tips or suggestions of how I could improve? Thanks!

Opposites
FanfictionTroye is a negative, they tend to be more depressed, introverted, and pessimistic. Tyler is a positive, they tend to be more excitable, extroverted, and optimistic. This was once a half finished fanfic but I gave up sooo its a weird sort of oneshot...
