A Helpful Hand

Ch15. Start of Break

"Spongebob is stupid. We should not be wasting the rest of  our Spring Break sitting around, watching TV." Jo complained.

"What else is there to do?"

Jo and I were sitting in, on a Saturday morning, watching Spongebob. It looks like a pretty nice day outside, but we had no idea what to do.

"We can't just sit here. It's summer, we have to do something with our lives." Jo got up, "We're young, let's party, go meet boys, do something!"

I laughed at her crazy suggestions, "How about let's start small and go to the movies?"

"That's a start and I have been wanting to watch Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs 2." she smiled.

"And if you want, I guess you can invite people to tag along." I suggested.

Jo's eyes widened, "You mean like a guy?

"I don't care as long as-"

"Are you asking me to set you up?" Jo sounded excited. Jo is always wanting to set up one of her friends with me. I've let her set me up a couple of times, some of them went great, but I didn't want her to set me up with anyone tonight.

"No Jo I was sayinng that-"

"You said I can invite people too."

"Yeah but no -"

"Yay! I'm going to call some guys, okay? Oh shoot, I have to go home and change. Text me details about the showing." she gathered her stuff and headed for the door, "Later Emma! It'll be fun, I promise."

Before I can yell at her she left to go to her car, peeling out of my driveway and headed home.

I hope she actually picks a guy my type. No more nose pickers, hardcore gamers, or egocentric jerks. I sighed in defeat, not knowing what is going to go on tonight, and went upstairs to take a shower.

Buzz Buzz 

I slid my phone out of my pocket, finding a text from Liam.

From Payne: Hey, whaddup?

Me: About to take a shower :(

Him: Um, Emma? I'm pretty sure showers are a good thing..

Me: Haha Yeah, but I'm just thinking.

Him: Care to explain?

Should I tell him? I mean he is my friend, but I wonder how he would react? I must have been taking a long time to think about this, because I get a call from Liam.

"Hey." I breathed out

"Hey, is everything okay? You took a while and I was worried." he sounded caring, so sweet.

"Yeah, I was planning to go out tonight. Movies and such." I sat down on my bed.

"That's good." he trailed off, "With who?"

"Jo plus some guys." I said cautiously.

"Guys?" he asked.

"Yeah," I sighed, " Jo is setting me up with someone apparently."

"Well I hope you have fun."

Fun. Fun?

"I do too. Jo can pick the weirdest guys sometimes." that got him laughing, just a low chuckle.

"Well I am going to leave so you can get ready, but you have to tell me details later." I smiled

"You sound like a girl." We both laughed.

After saying bye I searched showings and told them to Jo. She says that she has a surprise for me, oh joy. I gathered my outfit for tonight and went to the restroom.

This is going to be one heck of a night.
