Lily's POV:
"Okay so if I'm riding a horse I want  to wear boots, a loose tea shirt, and blue jeans."
I slipped off my checkered pj's and slipped into my outfit. Grabbing a piece of burnt toast from the plate my mom left in the kitchen, I ran out the door, trying to plat my hair and get the taste of tooth paste remotely off my tongue. "Are you ready?" Sarah said jumping off her horse.
"I guess" I said taking a breath.
We walked all the way to the stables.
"So what's your story?" She raised an eyebrow.
"Not anything interesting" I replied laughing.
"It's quiet out here isn't it? I like it" I said while tucking a piece of hair behind my ear.
"I love it out here, my dad built our house when I was little and it's just always been us."
"What about your mom?" I questioned.
"She uh died during labor when she had me."
"Sarah I'm so sorry I didn't mean to-"
"It's okay, really, it's nice to kinda talk about her, my dad hardly does, but he calls me his miracle" she cut me off.
"So let's see if you really can ride" she smirked and helped me up onto the horse.

An hour later-
"See you're a natural." She laughed and I joined her, "I love animals, but I honestly thought I would have fell off by now." I chuckled. "So what are your plans for the summer." She asked me.
"Well tomorrow my snobby cousins are coming to stay, so I'll be kicked out of my room. so I'll probably just camp outside to be honest"
"well I would offer you to stay at my house, but I have have something much more fun"
She smirked. "Oh no" I chuckled.
Sarah's POV:

As we let the horses back into the stables she was giggling the whole way back to the house.
"Hey dad, Lily and I are gonna camp out side tomorrow."
"Sounds like good fun kiddo, I've got new clients coming to the winery in a few days, ones a nice woman, Beth, she'd love to meet you" he smiled. "Okay dad I'll be there."
'He's totally dating that new woman' I thought to myself.
"So what do you wanna do now?" Lily smiled innocently.
"Hmm well I was gonna finish painting the barn, me and my dad started it." I scrunched up my nose.
"Let's do it" she smiled.
We walked to the barn and I opened up the big sliding doors, revealing a side of the wall I had started to paint blue. We both picked up paintbrushes and dipped them into the cans, gliding it across the half bare wall. After about ten minutes my stroking become sloppy and some paint suddenly found its way to Lily's shirt. I covered my mouth with my hand trying to to laugh, she smirked and flicked paint back at me. "Oh it's so on" I giggled. We both went back and forth with different colours until we looked like a mixed up art pallet. We were spinning and laughing so much we fell to the ground, giggling like children. I turned towards her, admiring her face. So pure. My breathing became heavier and she looked At my lips, I took this as a sign that she might actually feel something for me, and I lent in, she followed, our lips were inches apart. When the barn doors opened again. "Oh my girls, you're a mess" my dad said laughing. "This is Beth, the nice woman I told you about. Isn't this great she came early!" I slightly waved not wanting to get to know this woman.
"I've heard so many great things" she smiled.
"I'm sure you have." I forced a smiled.
"sorry dad but lily and I are gonna go get cleaned up"
"Oh that's fine and sar, I think we might join you on your camping adventure, ya know like the old days it will be great we can go far up into the woods!"
"Okay" I smiled.
As we walked out and finished cleaning up at home, I walked lily back to her house.
"well bye I'll see ya tomorrow." I bit my bottom lip.
"Sure will" she smiled.
As she walked inside I kinda just stood there for a second. 'Would she have actually kissed me if we weren't interrupted?" I thought to myself. "Probably not, who would like you anyways" I said while kicking the dirt.

hey guys so idk how this is going but if you can't already tell Sarah is having a hard time letting her dads new girl 'friend' in because she misses her mother, even though she never met her, and I'm thinking throughout the story lily will help her with her feelings towards her dads new 'friend'. Anyways if you have any other ideas for this feel free to comment!
