*Chapter 4 - The Inevitable*
Another week of; school, homework, facebook had finally passed. On the next Friday morning I was informed by Mam that I had to remember to bring Carla home with us as she was staying with us because her parents are visiting family down the country. For a sleepover, that was.
I was sort of torn between emotions; happiness that my friend was staying over, it was going to be fun, and kind of a feeling of resentment that I wouldn’t get to Jack for like two days. Unless of course I told Carla about our little communications, but I knew I wasn’t going to do that, not yet anyway…
School was boring as usual and at lunch I received an unwanted lecture about how weird Jack Fitzgibbon is, Carla had double French before lunch. When the home bell rang, I honestly wanted to stand up on my desk and start singing ‘Friday’ by Rebecca Black. After a hasty meeting with my locker and a game of catch with my books, Carla and I liberated ourselves from the clutches of the school building.
When we got home we were made do our homework, which took hours as half the time we were doing no actual homework. After a very healthy dinner of pizza, I swear take away is the only thing we eat while Carla’s over. We went up to my room and went on my computer. After a while looking up foreign music videos on YouTube we went on Facebook.
I logged on my account first as we both knew I would be done checking it a lot faster than her. I had one notification which was Danielle asking me if I would go out walking with her. I glanced at my ever growing chat list, thanks to Carla, there was no of interest on so I moved the mouse up the “Account” button. I was a second away from left clicking on the “Log out” option when Carla pipes up.
“Hey, wait up please! I’m sure I’m over the trauma of you annoying all my friends last week! This is pay back phase two!” She took the laptop of my knees and placed it on her own, an air of gracefulness and elegance about her as she did it.
‘Phase Two’ started off with about a million status’ and then moved to my chat list. My only though was that I hoped Jack wouldn’t come online any time soon. Not only would my cover be blown, teasing would ensue, Carla would most likely be kind of hurt I kept that ‘small detail’ from her.
Basically it wouldn’t work out well for any party involved. But for now I was going to have fun completely wrecking my account.

At eleven the inevitable happened… Jack came on. I wouldn’t have minded so much if Carla was only picking select targets but no, she had to talk to everybody, emos included. It was just a waiting game until she clicked his name. And the thing about Facebook was that when you clicked on someone’s name to chat to them, the previous conversations come up above that…. not good! I was starting to worry if Jake would start talking to me rather than Carla starting the conversation, and then I would be well and truly screwed! I mean, even I would question myself why he would start talking to me when I only added him as a randomer?
I don’t think I could say I believed in karma until that moment.
I always tried to do good things for people and be nice and all that, and all that ever got back was completely reverse. I guess today was my lucky day as Carla had literally just clicked on his name and had her hands raised to the keyboard. I was to having a heart attack. She randomly got up, and started to walk out of my room.
This invoked complete and utter confusion from me so I called after her, “Where are you going?”
“A malevolent rendezvous with the toilet if Your Majesty doesn’t have a problem?” she said sticking her head around the door. Nice choice of words, I thought to myself.
