Chapter 1: Birth

A child is born.
Not that it wanted to be.
It didn't want existince.

And yet, here it is. It's mother and father, Jane and Lucas, were excited at the birth of their son. A baby boy, whom they named Jason. Jason looked so precious coming out of the womb.

The excitement that came from the arrival of a new life was staggering. Baby shower, gifts and wishes of luck from relatives, all for the birth of something that didn't need to be there. All of this time, effort, and work being put into this thing that didn't need to happen. And yet, here he is. A baby named Jason. To Lucas' dismay, Jason looked nothing like his "father".

That was truth.

And that was pain.

Lucas wasn't the father. Jane wanted Lucas to adopt the baby, as his actual father died after Jason's conception, due to a car crash. Lucas was a close friend of the father, one whom Jane felt could fill a void left in her life from the death of her boyfriend.

A single mother, due to a tragic death of her partner, seeking a father for this baby so it can live and grow to be a prosperous individual in society.

Lucas was happy to oblige, as that was what the father would've wanted, correct?

Now the baby is here. No more waiting, or praying. Only the here and now. And what does Lucas do? Flee.

FLEE LIKE THE COWARD HE ALWAYS WAS. HE ONLY COMFORTED HER BECAUSE HE WANTED SOMETHING, BECAUSE HE WANTED TO BE LOVED. HE TOOK ADVANTAGE OF THEIR SITUATION, MAKING JANE THINK OF HOPE, WHEN THAT WOULD BE THE LAST THING THAT WOULD COME AFTER THIS SITUATION.

No one heard from Lucas after that. It's been two years after he ran from the hospital, after he refused to love and care for this baby boy.

But what of Jane? Depression. Sadness. Being told by the same doctor who delivered her baby that the father was nowhere to be found, that was heartbreaking. She was once again left alone. With this baby.

Lucas?

Haven't
Seen
Him
Yet
Baby

Came
Out.

I wonder how he feels at this exciting time!
Jane thought this in blissfull ignorance.
