"HEY!" A short dude next to me screamed into my ear when i accidently bumped into him, his strange red eyes stared at me with only slight anger, his skin was pale and his hair a pitch black like the void. His mouth was in a twisted grit, his teeth all sharp like he had sharpened them.

"I SAID HEY!" The short little guy grabbed onto my arm, his nails were sharp and dug ever-so-slightly into my skin, his baggy sweater slowly slid down his arm and he quickly pulled it back up and looked me in the eye.

"S-Sorry little dude...I didn't mean to.." I mumbled out and he let go, resting his arms at his sides he sighed.

"I was only trying to get your attention...." The guy mumbled.

"You looked lonely." I stepped back slightly to see him fully since he was so short.

"W-What..?' I stuttered only a bit before smirking slightly, I could feel my eyes droop slightly before the little guy sighed.

"I SAID YOU LOOKED FUCKING LONELY." the little dude crossed his arms and I chuckled.

"It's just that you're the only one who's ever said anything like that." I smiled, Ignoring the fuzzy feeling of withdrawel in my head.

"My name's Gamzee, and you might fuckin' be?"I leaned down towards him slightly as i spoke, he stepped back just a step.

"Karkat." The little dude's grimace faded into a small smile and then relaxed.

"What made you come up to a low-life like me?" I questioned, Karkats eyes widening slightly as he uncrossed his arms and relaxed them at his sides again.

"You look terrible, I thought you may need help, your hairs a mess, you look like you've been wearing the same clothing for years, you smell bad, like drugs and murder, like you were at a brothel or something." He muttered in a slightly unfriendly tone.

This little dude was right, I smelled like fucking shit, I haven't brushed my hair in....I've lost track, my last shower was......when again?I ended up getting addicted to drugs due to having nothing better to do with my life, I had no family left, I was on my own. There are brothels everywhere I go, avoiding them is nearly impossible.

"and LASTLY YOU LOOKED SO LONELY IT LOOKED AS IF YOU WOULD JUST FALL APART!" Karkat raised his voice once again, ignoring the fact that they had been standing in the library for the past twenty minutes and the librarian keeps telling them to hush.

I pulled a book off the shelf and opened it, it's pages felt soft and had a small scent to them, it may have been stronger than I thought, but I haven't been able to smell things right lately.

I placed my hand on Karkats head and ruffled his hair, making him growl and ram his sharp-nailed fingers into my side and making me jump a little.

"I've been livin' on the streets ever since i was a little motherfucker." I chuckled "My parents never wanted me and i was sent to live with my Grandfather, he was arrested though for concealing contraband...y'know...like drugs." My voice grew raspy as i went on, I peered down at the book i picked, realising, I couldn't make out the words. Karkat looked up at me worringly.

"Gamzee are you alright?" His voice seemed a little shakey as I grabbed his shoulder and we wobbled over towards the tables and sat down, the cold wood chairs felt good on my back.

"Hey little dude...I just realised somthin' " I smiled as i slid the book towards Karkat. "These words don't make any motherfuckin' sense in my eyes."

Karkat opened his mouth, shocked as he looked at the book.

"You mean....you can't read?!" He looked back up at me and I shook my head.

"Never learned little dude." I sighed "Grandpa never cared much for the smarts...everythin' was all drugs to him, just drugs and money."

Karkat held his head in his hands and slid his hands down his face.

"Where do you live?" His voice echoed

"Huh?"

"Tell me where you live." His voice raised slightly

"Uhhh the apartment on Matesprite street, 2A." I mumbled out, my eyes growing heavy.

"I'll visit you everyday after class from now on...I'll help you learn." I shot up from my seat and Karkat stood up ready to run.

"Really?!" I smiled as I rushed towards Karkat and wrapped my arms around him in a strong hug.

"Yea...Ill help you....now please LET GO!!!" Karkat yelled but I didn't release him.

"Thank you so MOTHERFUCKIN' much little dude!!!" I then let go of him and Karkat took in air slowly before smiling slightly at me.

"I'll see you at 6pm tomorrow" Karkat said as he began to walk away but paused and turned back around, "Oh yea..." He said pulling out a small 2$ looking flip phone and tossing it to me.

"I'll call you, my numbers the only one programmed in that thing, call me anytime you need it...see ya Gamzee." Karkat then turned and the only other sound was the bell on the door telling me that he left for good.

"See ya....little dude." I mumbled before picking up the book and walking out of the library into the rainy night world outside.
