Dave's POV
"This weekend was supposed to be special!" I whined to Faith, who was caught up in Super Smash Bros.
"What did you want to happen?" She asked, looking over at me, curious
"Well, I uhh." I stuttered looking around anxiously.
"What did you want from Emily?" She pressured, smirking at the response she was getting.
"Don't tell anyone this, but I was going to ask her if she wanted to move to California with me." I said quickly, looking away. That earned a large gasp from Faith.
"I mean, I know you still liked her, but not that much!" She said, overwhelmed with joy.
"I told her back in eighth grade I didn't believe in true love, but now I think I do." I said, looking straight into Faith's eyes.
"You need to tell her how you feel. She thinks you flirt with her and all that crap just to make her happy." Faith said, worried.
"Alright, alright. I'll tell her tonight, and ask her before she leaves back for home." I said, giving into the pressure. Faith squealed in delight.Laura came home right around 4, with an unexpected guest.
"Margot? What are you doing here?" Faith said, curious. The small yet powerful girl smirked.
"I came looking for Laura." She replied sweetly.
"How romantic." I joked. Emily jabbed me in the side. "What was that for?" I asked, actually feeling a bruise form.
"Laura is happy, and I'm happy for her. Don't ruin this for her." She said, complete seriousness in her eyes. I heard her sigh, then whisper, "I wish love was that easy for me." A single tear rolled down her face. I was not going to disappoint her tonight, yet I was still anxious. Did she really still feel that way towards me.I was anxious for tonight, even if we were going to the fanciest restaurant in New York. Me and Emily told the waitress our names, well more like me telling both of our names. We were then led to a small booth in the left corner of the building. Emily took a menu, and I tried without shaking.
"So why'd you want to bring me here?" She asked, pure curiosity burning in her eyes.
"I, um, just wanted to spend some time with you, you know." I answered shakily, my voice cracking here and there. Emily smiled a bit, and blushed. The waitress from before came and took our orders and menus, then left us alone. The restaurant was bare, except a few couples strayed in different areas. I gulped, trying to get rid of the butterflies in my stomach.
"Why do you look so pale? And why are you sweating so much?" She asked worriedly.
"Um, could you excuse me for a second?" I asked quickly, not wanting her to catch on. I then ran into the ladies room, not being allowed into the men's room legally yet. There I sat down on a frilly couch they had for anyone, like they normally do in fancy places. Emily came in a few minutes later.
"What's wrong? You can tell me." She said.
"I, uhh, I just need to say something." I babbled on.
"Go ahead, I won't mind." She replied, taking my hand to calm me down.
"Ever since I met you in eighth grade, I've had this feeling for you. I tried to ignore it, but it just grew stronger. I just wanted to tell you that, Emily McCormick, I have very strong feelings for you." I said, trying to control my tears, afraid of what she would say. Then she burst out into tears, smiling while she did.
"I knew you liked me in eighth grade, but not this much!" She exclaimed, happiness breaking her voice.
"How did you know I liked you?" I asked, trying not to think of how.
"Oh, um, someone just told me." She said innocently.
"It was Laura wasn't it." I said, monotoned. She nodded. "That son of a bitch gonna die tonight." I said, standing up.
"We need to eat first!" She said, which brought me back to my senses.
