Grant's POV
I was sitting in my office, twirling a pencil around my fingers. Suddenly my phone vibrated on the cool pine wood desk. "Whatcha doin?" The message read. It was from my old friend Emily. "Nothin, y?" I replied. "You think you could come to NYC this weekend?" She said, which surprised me. "Sure, what for?" I asked, confused at why, since she wasn't living in New York. "We're having a friend reunion!" She said. That's how I ended up riding in this stuffy, over crowded plane. 'Why am I doing this?' I thought 'I don't even think Laura likes me.' But it was too late now. As the plane started landing, hundreds of people were stirring, causing the plane to move a little bit. When it finally landed, I got off, and had a sigh of relief. "Grant, come over here!" I heard a person yell. I finally saw who it was. She was jumping up and down like a maniac.
"Emily, calm down." I replied monotoned and cool. She looked at me in disbelief.
"Liven up!" She said, grabbing my arm.We hopped into a cab, driving for about 45 minutes through the busy streets of New York.
"So how is Florida?" Emily asked
"It's just fine." I said, annoyance overwhelming in my voice.
"What is wrong with you?" She said worriedly
"Nothing." I growled back
The air was icy with tension for the rest of the ride.We finally stopped at a large building. We walked through the lobby, people staring at me. "What are you all staring at?!" I yelled, loosing my cool. Emily dragged me onto the elevator.
"What is your problem?" She said angrily
"Nothing." I said facing awayWe got to the 10th floor, walking throughout the large hallway. Emily opened the apartment door
"Number 143." I mumbled, stepping through the doorframe.
"I'm home!" She yelled at the 5 people sitting in the living room.
"So?" Laura said, not looking up from her phone
"Where have you been?" Faith asked, to focused on her cooking to see me. Suddenly Rachel noticed me
"Grant? What are you doing here?" She asked.
"None of your business." I snapped at her. That got everyone's attention. "What are you all staring at?" I yelled, trying to find a place to hide away. "Where am I sleeping at?" I whispered to Emily.
"In the last room in the hallway on the left." She replied, not looking at me. I stormed away. Back in the living room I heard a stir of people moving.
"Why'd you invite him here?" I heard Laura ask rudely.
"He's one of our friends also." Emily defended. I looked away from the door, and flopped into my bed, falling into a restless sleep.
