Chapter 8 : First day at the University

I woke up early, opened the curtains of my room, got myself ready and sat on the bed. I wasn’t hungry yet and I had nothing to do because I woke up 2 hours before. I was really excited for my first day. I wanted to drive and go to the university but unfortunately my car was still in America.

I was in deep thinking about how my university would be like from inside when suddenly my alarm clock started ringing and that made me jump. Finally I went to the kitchen to make myself some breakfast. I wasn’t in a habit of making breakfast, that to for myself. I wasn’t in a mood of making anything so I had cereals with a chocolate. I know it sounds weird having chocolate in the morning but I was really fond of chocolates then and I still am. My clock ticked 7:30 and I was now ready for my first day. I picked up my house keys, my small bag pack and my mobile and went out of the house. I stepped out of the house and saw Varun already waiting for me and Trisha.

How much time do you girls take to get ready, I have been waiting here since last 10 minutes.

Sorry just wanted to be sure that I took everything I said locking the door of my house. By the way where’s Trisha I asked Varun.

Here I am she shouted from her house.

Hey girls can I drop you to your universities? He asked.

That’s what you were supposed to we replied laughing together.

We first dropped Trisha and then Varun dropped me.

Good day Alia. “Good day to you too Varun and enjoy.” I replied. We exchanged good byes and went away.

I could see a crowd of excited students moving inside. The crowd made me feel lonely because I could see students moving in pairs while I was alone. I wanted Emma and Alicia, both of them with me that day. I moved inside the great Whitish brown building. The first thing I saw there was 2 boys getting scolded by a fat, brunette, speckled professor. It was bit weird - scolding someone like that in the corridor in front of everyone. I moved ahead but couldn’t find the reception. When suddenly a tall, handsome, good looking guy jumped in front of me.

‘Hi, am I standing in front of Alia?’ he asked. Yeah I replied feeling weird for I hadn’t seen him before.

‘Hi I am your guardian for today, my name’s Abhimanyu.’ ‘What guardian?’ I asked.

“Oh don’t worry I wont act like your parent, i thought the same last year when I came here as a fresher.” He replied.

Yeah, guardian sounds a bit weird I said.

We started talking as we moved towards the reception. So are you an Indian? I asked.

Not exactly actually I am an Indian American he replied. Oh what a coincidence I am too an Indian American I replied. Ahh, great he replied smiling.
