To Yoshida Fuigi-san,

Congratulations in winning the World Baseball Tournament U 18 and remaining as the defending champions for four years in a row! You all showed a great game by creating a lot of impressive plays. I feel proud to have one my former students coach such a fantastic team.

I also send my deepest concerns to your daughter, Aira-san. She's a very talented pitcher and baseball prodigy. Surely, being able to enter the Major league someday is inevitable for her. Her plays are all excellent that it surprised me to see her break down in the 8th inning.

I highly hope that she will turn out just fine and no injury will be added into her medical records. She loves baseball very much and it might ruin her career if she gets diagnosed with a health complication.

Before I end this letter, I have one request for you. It might approach you in a straightforward manner but I'd love to hear a positive response from you.

As you can see, my old age had greatly affected my team. I no longer have the strength to reprimand my players whenever they're slacking off during practice. Most of all, I couldn't raise their status from being a fallen powerhouse. I wasn't able to achieve my goal of transforming them into being the world's best baseball team. I have failed as a coach.

I'll be retiring anytime soon and probably, while you're reading this, the thought of taking my position will need a huge amount of willingness from you, which will have to battle your hesitation.

You and your family have adapted the American way of living and transferring back here might cause a big case of culture shock. Also, your position as a coach of a prestigious team will create another dilemma for you.

I know that there are other potential coaches who can take my place; however, I have already made up my mind. I choose you, Yoshida Fuigi, to be my substitute.

I know it's a very selfish of me to ask this request, but I will give you enough time to decide on your final verdict. I do not want to cause much more stress in your family, now that your daughter is already in an unstable state.

I look forward to hearing your reply, Fuigi-san.

Sincerely,

Namioka Kinzo

Harris Regional Hospital

A long sigh, which came from the said recipient, resonated throughout the silent hallways of a hospital. Exhaustion and puzzlement can be felt just by looking at his weary eyes. His shoulders appeared to be unrelaxed, mostly because of the current situation he and his family are facing.

"What's written on the letter?" The woman beside him inquired. Her eyes contained much more worry than those of her husband, and it seems as if tears came out from them, uncontrollably.

The man couldn't produce any words out of his lips. He still appears to be affected by the aftershock caused from what happened to his daughter. Add the fact that his old teacher sent him an offer that he had always been waiting for.

Using his right hand, he gave his letter to his wife. She then handed him their five year old son, named Chigiru, who was eating his favorite chocolate Taiyaki, heartily as he sat in the lap of his mother.

"Oyashi, when will Aira-nee come home?" He asked soon after he was delivered to his father's lap.

"Only the doctor knows, Chigiru." A small smile formed on the old man's lips, which conveyed reassurance despite the worried glint in his orbs. "But I believe that she will, soon."
