As I run I pull out a deodorant I keep in my hand bag for cases like these. I round a corner and stop before spraying myself and the area around me, hoping like hell he doesn't catch my scent once this wears off.

I fling myself from the wall again once I hear his thundering footfalls coming down the hall, my feet travel as fast as they can take me without mutating into my beast. In the distance, Alpha Lucas' footstep pattern falters before coming to a complete halt. I let out a sigh of relief that this, knowing I have at least five minutes before he picks up my scent.

I find Sylvia exactly where I told her to go, the kitchen drowning herself in milk. My brain is working in overdrive at the moment, I pace back and forth in the kitchen with a pair of eyes watching my every move cautiously.

"What's got your panties in a twist?" Sylvia blurts out, swishing her milk around in her hand.

"I knew we shouldn't have come today, today was a very bad idea." I mutter.

"What did you do?" My best friend groans, placing her cup in the sink and getting ready to go. "I was looking forward to a pack."

"I didn't do anything! It was your fault. If you hadn't have forced me here today then I wouldn't have met him, and his very charming Beta. And if I hadn't have met them then I wouldn't have had to run away a-" She cuts of my nervous rant with a slap across the face. My head whips across to the side slightly in shock, I am never prepard for when she does that.

"What the hell Sylvia!" I shout.

"She was showing Chriselda, your eyes changed." Her face pales slightly, I recoil from her hold.

"We need to get out of here V, like now." She grabs hold of my shoulders and stares intently into my eyes.

"What the hell is going on with you Chrissie? What on Earth has managed to get the Chriselda Spear, daughter of Alpha Harris and Luna Ryeona so worked up? You normally give the shit, not take it. I confide everything in you, everything. Like remember that one time we got caught by a Beta in his territory because I had to use their toilet? We nearly got killed because I was busting, you didn't even seem bothered by that! So I repeat, what is bringing her out?" I almost crumble under her glare, but I know if I tell her then something really bad will happen.

She hates the Downfall Blood pack as much as I, and if she finds out that the Alpha of all people is my mate then she will blow up.

And when Sylvia blows up, she makes sure everybody knows. It is never a small argument, she will make her point known and she will make it loud. Let me tell you one thing; arguing back makes it worse.

You won't win.

If Sylvia blows up on Alpha Lucas, like I know she will, then it will not end well for either of us. If he is anything like his father, then we are already in trouble. The reason for his father's attack on my pack was because one of your omegas was mates with one of his high rankings, and apparently that is not acceptable to have omega filth contaminating your Delta's love life.

Alpha Lucas does not have a good reputation either, he is known as the beast. The youngest, most ruthless and successful Alpha. Some say his wolf is black, not just his fur but his soul. When Lucas mutates into his beast, known as Xavier, he blacks out and goes on a rampage. Much like someone I know.

I take a deep breath in.

"I met a Beta." I tell her, Sylvia rolls her eyes.

"Yes, I got that from your previous rant." She tells me sarcasticly.

"Let me finish. His name is Scott and he told me he wants me to join his pack." She removes her hands from my shoulders and takes a step back.

"And you ran away from an oppertunity like that?" She yells.

"I said let me finish! I found my mate." This time she squeals.

"Oh my God, you have to take me to meet this man. Scott and I will be best friends, and you will name your first pup ater me an-"

"Are you incapable of shutting your mouth?" I groan, she snaps her mouth shut dramatically to make a point. "Thank you. No, and for your information Scott isn't my mate by the way. I also don't think that you would want to be Scott's best friend as you put it."

"Why?" She asks.

"He's from the Downfall Blood pack V." Sylvia blinks once, twice and on the third on looks like she is about to explode.

"What did you tell him?" Her voice is calm, like that calm your parents get when they are really, really angry at you and you just want them to yell and scream at you instead.

"I didn't really even talk to him, my mate kind of intervened. I don't think you would be very pleased with the Moon Goddess by the way, I am pretty upset with her at the moment."

"Crap, please don't tell me who I think it is. Because at the moment I have worst case scenarios running around in my head. And if it is who I think it is, please don't tell me you ran away from someone literally known as the beast because of the amount of people he slaughtered that disappointed him?" She nearly pleads with me.

"Iran away from someone literally known as the beast because of the amount of people he slaughtered that disappointed him." I deadpan, just as I say that the door bursts open.

Thousands of splinters shoot across the room, I fling myself forward to cover Sylvia and being impaled several times in the process. I roll over in agony, Sylviawas been knocked out when I pushed her to the side. She knocked her head of the table corner.

A tall figure looms above me, studying my injured figure.

"Now this isn't how I expected to meet." Alpha L
