I pull myself up, ears ringing loudly due to me being to close to the explosion.
Everybody is rushing towards the house in search of their loved ones, desperately willing for them to be alright. I look around myself in horror as werewolves of all ages drag the injured out of the house, many no longer breathing.
This is because of me.
Lucas is nowhere to be seen, and I don't bother looking for him as I know that my company would just be unwanted anyway. I limp towards the exit, struggling to keep the tears in when the ringing fades away and is replaced with shouts and cries.
To my left, a small girl is hunched over a teenage female who lies on the ground, I can't make out a heartbeat.
"Julia! Wake up! I can't find mum and dad, I need your help. Please, please wake up!" The child wails over her dead sister body. My heart clenches at the memories that surface as I watch this exchange helplessly.
"Fern! Please wake up, Mummy and Daddy are hurt and I don't know what to do. I need your help, please wake up and help me!" I cry, shaking my sisters body furiously.
Why will no one help me?
I walk between the bodies numbly, not fully comprehending anything after that.
This is your fault human. Get out of here before you ruin their lives further. My beast growls at me, I nod before taking off into the bushes, trying to put as much distance between me and that mess as possible.
Lucas' POV
The pack is riddled with cries of help as each member discovers another loved one trapped under some form of debris. I scowl at the sight, knowing that my mate knew this would happen as she tried to run away so she wouldn't be caught in it.
She's conspiring with rogues.
When the explosion happened, I was flown into the wall behind be, but not knocked out like my mate. Although my first instinct was to make sure she was alright, I couldn't help but feel disgusted with her, she planned such an attack.
I may be known as the beast, and I may be as heartless as all the rumours say but I would never take part in such a terrible act. There are women and children in this house for gods sake!
I couldn't bare to stay with that brat any longer, so I left the room in search of one of their Alphas. Many people were sprinting towards the house, mortified at the sight before them.
Everything is still unstable now, and we are trying to get as many people out before the house collapses.
"Alpha Lucas. Has anyone retrieved my mate yet?" I turn my attention towards Alpha Colton, noting the fear and angry thats evident in his eyes.
"Not that I know of Alpha Colton. But I'll keep and eye out for her." He nods and takes off up the stairs, after an internal debate with myself I follow suit.
I'm not in the mood to save a werewolf huntress.
As we run down the hallway, a female voice rings through the halls frantically.
"Wait! Colton, Lucas, please in here!" I turn swiftly and head towards the voice of Alpha Cindy.
The first thing I notice when I enter the crumbling room is the Luna being crushed under a large wooden pillar, with Cindy trying desperately to life it away from her body before it kills her. But, it would be too heavy for even a single werewolf to lift.
The witch is on the other side of the room, blood seeping from her nose and eyes as she repetitively mutters a spell under her breath. She must be trying to keep the pillar off of her sisters unconscious body, and the weight of it is killing her.
Colton soon appears behind me and his eyes grow wide, he shoves me to the side and rushes forwards into the room.
I slightly topple to the side and place my right hand against the wall to steady myself before I throw a glare towards the Alpha. I notice the witch begin to sway sidewards and I then that if I don't help now, not only will the werewolf huntress die, but so will the annoying know it all witch.
That would play out very nicely for me if they did, this pack would have no hope at defending themselves against me. Especially not at this weak stage.
Help them human. The huntress would be a goof ally, and so would the witch. If you don't, then you will have the Alpha and the assassin as enemies. My wolf tells me angrily, yet calmly.
Fine. I growl before trudging further into the room.
I watch as the blood covers the witches face, she begins to loose her footing and I notice that if she falls, she will hit her head on the fallen roof tiling behind her. I sigh before running over to her and wrapping my arms around her waist as she falls towards the floor, and gently lower her down instead.
A scream is heard behind me as I do so, and when I turn around I notice Colton and Cindy barely holding the weight anymore so I make my way over to the pillar too and begin to lift. As it moves slightly upwards Cindy lets go from where she was holding it and runs towards her friend before tugging the huntress away from underneath the pillar.
And there goes my chance watch the huntress die.
My wolf begins growling lowly inside my head, my ears perk up in alert. Something's wrong with my mate.
I make sure the huntress is out safe before I drop the pillar harshly and make my way downstairs quickly, not sparing a second glance at all the werewolves that beg for my help on the way past.
I can't smell her scent anywhere inside, and this angers me. Not knowing where she is is a worry, just because I can't stand that traitor doesn't change the fact that she is my mate and I need her to bare my children.
I shower the land outside picking up a faint trace of her scent near the bushline.
She ran away.
I growl loudly before heading deeper into the bushes.
Just you wait till I catch you little mate.
