It was lunch time, and me and Sally were walking to the lunch room together.
"Somethings bothering Dylan" we blurted out at the same time.
"You don't know what then I guess, huh?" She said quietly staring at the floor with complete concentration.
"Not a fricking clue," I started, "but he wants me to go over after school so I might just know soon enough... Hopefully." I said just as we were about to sit with our friends.
Matt, Sam and cam were arguing about God-only-knows-what while Mitch was laughing his head off at them. But Dylan, he wasn't laughing, or smiling, I don't even think he noticed me sit down, he just carried on poking his pasta with a fork. I looked over at Sally with a worried expression on my face, she had the same look.
"Hey Dyl," I said quietly putting my hand on his shoulder, "what's up big guy?" I asked.
He looked up at me and into my eyes before looking at Sally and back at his lunch.
"I don't wanna talk about it here," he said clearly talking about the argument in front of us, "talk about it at my place." He finally said looking back up at me.
"Ok," I said understandingly, I didn't want to push him, he would tell me in his own time, "my mum was asking when you'll be coming round again with your mum and Sophie," I started, "she says she misses Sophie's constant adrenaline rush." I said the last part in a terrible British accent, resulting in a snicker from Dylan. He looked up and smiled.
"How about this weekend?" He said still smiling.
"Sure." I replied smiling back.
We sat the rest of lunch mostly in silence of squabbling about random stuff that would never occur in our lives ever, such as a dinosaur apocalypse. And I was relieved to see Dylan eat his food rather that poke it to see if it was alive.
The day ended fairly quick, and when that bell rang for the end of school we all went and stood by Mitch's car chatting for 5 minutes. We said our goodbyes and went out separate ways. When Dylan dropped Luke off I ran inside to tell my mum where I was going and that I would be back for dinner. I quick dashed outside and into Dylan's car just as it started to rain.
"You look like a wet dog." Dylan finally blurted out, managing to crack a smile.
"Why thank you, maybe you can rub my belly too." I said sarcastically back. We both started to laugh at that.
When we pulled up outside Dylan's house, there was an unfamiliar car parked outside it. I turned and looked at Dylan who I could see had immediately tensed up.
"Dylan? DYLAN!" I shouted making him practically jump out of his skin.
"Right sorry, um..." He looked back at the car then towards the house.
"Spit it out already, what's bothering you?" I asked following his gaze.
"We run in the house, ignore everyone who is there and go straight to my room," he started holding up his hand as I went to speak, "you can bring Sophie when she jumps onto you." He said looking at me smiling, again, the smug bastard read my mind, and he knew it.
