Screaming , blood curdling screams from children , mothers and even some men. Chilling loud bangs were slicing through the night; Guns. Scarlet was abandoned by her parents and lived with a foster family at her age of 14. She got out of bed in a frantic panic but had no idea of where to run so ended up just stood in her room. It was Pitch black so she couldn't see much. She walked slowly to the hallway and heard banging on the doors, scratching and desperate gasps of air. She jumped and started to hide at the top of the stairs. She knew her hiding was going to haunt her and the regret of not helping washed over her. She leaped downstairs before I hand grabbed her and knocked the wind out of her as she flew down the stairs. Her drunk foster mother slowly flopped after her. Ellie made gagging noises as she held her breath. The pungent air of alcohol so familar to her. The bony woman grabbed her hair and yanked hard as she went to the door. Her (foster) father, or someone deserving of that title, barged in running past his wife and to Ellie. She liked her foster father as he was a caring person. He gave her an address and said through gasps of air.

"Don't....look.....back..Find..."

His eyes started to seep blood until they gradually closed. A fog started to float in the house and she rushed to close the door covering her mouth. Her foster mother began weeping and turned to face Ellie. She took a step forward and began yelling. Not like the screams she heard when she woke up but an angry tone. The cries outside began to die out but Ellie didn't even notice, all she could think about was what he had just Said.

The woman's body dropped to the floor in the most ungraceful way, how fitting of her character, she began shaking and reached her hands to her throat as if she was choking. Then she stopped. Just lifeless. That was until she began scratching at her head. She was frantically pulling chunks out of her head right down to the bone. Ellie didn't care much for her but she still did take her in and she thanked her for that. She walked up to her and stood a few feet away. Just watching. She said thanks to her and said sorry as tears went down her cheek. The realisation hit her as she ran upstairs and began calling anyone. Obviously no one picked up. Nothing. Somehow the world had gone to hell and no one took charge. That's because survival was all in there minds. That's what always happens to humans. The key thing they think of in a situation like this is their own survival.
