*Ezra's POV
I couldn't stand seeing Nathaniel like this. Even though he didn't know it, I didn't want to do any of this. It was all my dad's idea. My dad has always thought that I'm weak. He doesn't believe that I'd have what it takes to take over his business. I don't even think I want to take over his business, but he's my dad and I want him to be proud of me and not look at me like I'm a burden that can't defend himself or take care of the things that he asks me to. When he told me about the deal he made concerning Nathaniel, I finally thought I'd have a chance to prove myself. He was in the same school as I, which meant I knew he would probably be at that prom. That's how I had enough information to draft an abduction plan and show my dad. I told my dad about getting rid of the limousine driver and replacing him with one of our own men, while I would be hiding in the limousine until I could put Nathaniel to sleep with the chloroform. It was one of the first times ever my dad told me I did a good job at anything. I shouldn't have wanted his approval so much, but I did. However, I couldn't be regretting it any more than I was now. I really wanted to help Nathaniel when they were inspecting him, but I couldn't disappoint my dad again now that I had finally earned some of his respect.
Tonight when we were alone in the room and I saw him finally dropping the tough act and breaking into tears, I couldn't help but feel responsible for all of this. I leaned over to his face and wiped away his tears. I suddenly felt the desire to kiss him and without any hesitation I put my lips on his, before whispering I was sorry and leaving the room.
As soon as I left the room, I felt my heart beating in my chest. I know it was wrong to kiss him, I'm his kidnapper for crying out loud, but I wanted to. There was nothing I wanted more in that moment. I don't even think he's into guys, but in that moment I couldn't care about the ethics of it all.
I walked to my room and tried to get some sleep, not that I actually slept because I couldn't get Nathaniel out of my mind. The thought of him being taken away tomorrow destroyed me.
As I woke up from the single hour of sleep I managed to get, I went straight to the kitchen since I was starving. As I was passing the dining room, I saw the men talking to my dad. "Just like we agreed, he's completely yours. What do you plan on doing with him?" My dad asked the men curiously. "We occasionally throw some... special parties at night for our associates and other important people. For these parties we require some... unwilling participants." One of the men replied. As I heard this I immediately panicked and accidentally dropped my plate to the floor causing the men and my dad to come rushing into the kitchen. "What happened Ezra?" My dad asked. "Ehm...nothing dad. I just ehm... wanted to get some breakfast, but my hands were sweaty so the plate slipped out of my hands." I said with a shaky voice hoping they wouldn't notice it. "Be a bit more careful next time
please, those plates aren't cheap." my dad said as he and the men went back to the dining room
to continue discussing.I was completely in shock. I didn't know what would happen to him at those parties, but hearing they way they were talking about them I know it would be horrible for Nathaniel. I have to help him, so what if it pisses off my dad. It's not worth it trying to impress someone who would sell a 16 year old boy to be abused like that. I immediately knew what I had to do to save him.
I went to where he was held and as soon as I opened the door and saw him, my heart fluttered. He had a surprised look on his face. "Nathaniel I know you probably don't trust me right now, but you have to listen to me. I'm gonna untie you and you have to be calm and come with me. If you don't do what I say, those men will take you with them and do horrible things to you. You have to believe me, okay?" I told him as fast as I could, considering we didn't have much time to act. He nodded hesitantly, but I could see the fear in his eyes. I untied him and told him to run and follow me. "I can't run my legs are still tied together, remember!" He yelled at me. I knew that we didn't have time to untie his legs, so I did what I had to do. I picked him up, carrying him out of my house and to my car. I placed him in the passengers seat, got into the car myself and started the car. As I was driving off of my driveway, I looked into my rearview mirror and saw my dad staring at me from the doorway with clear disappointment in his eyes. At this point I didn't even care anymore. As I turned over to look at Nathaniel he slapped me in the face. "What the fuck was that good for?" I asked trying to stay calm. "That's for kissing me, you creep. Did you seriously think that I'd be okay with a guy kissing me, especially when they kidnapped me?" Nathaniel said. " I'm sorry, I know it wasn't right. My body just took over and my brain didn't have any say anymore." I said feeling guilty."I guess I'll forgive you for that once, since you did get me out. Why did you though? First you're just standing there as I'm crying out for your help and then you save me. Why did you help me?" He asked actually wanting to know the answer."I get why you're confused, but I couldn't help you the first time. I wanted to make my dad proud and even though I couldn't stand seeing you being touched by that man, I couldn't disappoint him again. When I heard what they were gonna do to you, I stopped caring about what my dad would think. I know now that I'm doing the right thing, even if that messes up my relationship with my dad. You're worth it, especially since this is partly my fault."I said looking straight into his eyes. "I don't know what to say but good thing that you came around, are u going to take me home now?" He asked me while looking away from me."I'm sorry, but the men that want you aren't people to fuck around with. Which means I have to take you out of the city for a while until you're safe. We'll be spending some time together and you can get to know the person that kinda kidnapped you but saved you in the end. Maybe you'll be able to understand better and forgive me someday." I said smiling at him obviously trying to make the situation less uncomfortable. "Yay!" He said sarcastically, but there was a part of me that believed he actually didn't mind it.
