Chapter 3 - Catman?!?

Most of the classes that I have are very interesting. If I didn’t mention it earlier, I’m a college student, taking up Computer Science. Not that anyone cares. Why did I want this? Because I want to create games. I want to inspire people with what I write and what I create. Not simply inspire them, but make the travel worthwhile during the whole course. Games have the ability to take a person and actually put them into the world that the creator wants them to be. But only if the player wants to be taken into the story tho.

Games are one of the best things in life. Some of them are crappy but they are all games waiting to be finished. It’s the developers to blame if the game isn’t great. And I believe that if a certain person can appreciate a certain game marked as crappy, then it's already a great game.

It’s already past 7pm, and I’m still here in the campus. I’m at a small clearing that's always populated when the sun is up. But now it’s dim, and there’s only a few lamppost that illuminate the area. There are also trees in the place. Plastic cups, rocks and dried leaves are scattered everywhere. There are paths covered by cement that leads from the gate to certain places inside the clearing, like a nice hangout place where you and your friends can sit and gather around to eat or just mingle.

Normally, there’d be one or two couples in a corner, doing things, things I don’t really know, some corners here are really dark, and I have no idea what they’re doing there. But some of them have the tenacity to kiss each other in the dark, and maybe do something even more? I don't know. I really haven't seen them do so.

What am I doing here, you ask?

I don’t really know.

What the hell do I know?

Do I know anything at all?

I’m actually reading a book. An eBook, and I’m actually quite far into the story. And I had to stop, because I only noticed now that it’s getting dark.

I stood up and started fixing my things, which only involves wearing my backpack that I had to put down so I'd get into a comfortable position, and not have my back sweat too much and putting my phone, the item that I used to read the eBook, into my pocket.

That’s when I heard it.

There was a low growl on one dark corner of the clearing. The clearing is actually enclosed by walls, though these walls aren’t really high, they’re something close to 3 meters.

At first, I thought it was just a really wild couple, wild enough to make one of them growl in the dark. I know, it sounds really kinky to me, but that wasn't the case.

There was a dark silhouette of something big in the dark. The light from the lamppost isn’t reaching far enough to make the "thing" visible.

Slowly, the "thing" approaches me with light but audible footsteps. My eyes can't fully adapt to the darkness because of the few light sources around me. But it has adjusted enough to let me know that whatever this thing was, it was larger than me.

I start to get nervous. Whatever this thing was, it won't be pretty. Anything that growls, is larger than you and is currently stalking you is not actually something that people want to happen in their lives. My mind tries to make out what kind of creature this thing is.

Only seconds has passed by but I feel like I've been here for days. I somehow knew that this was a life and death situation. But I was curious as to how my murderer looks like.

There was a lamppost between this creature and me.

Then I realized that whatever this creature was, it was about to step into the light. And that's when I saw everything.

First, the creature put its paw into the light. And I knew it was some sort of creature that stood on all fours, 'cause obviously, I just said paws, so you have the idea.

Then it fully went into the area of the lamppost. But it wasn't enough to fully see everything clearly.

It has the head of a man, but the body of a feline. More of a panther of some sort, due to the fact that it was really black and the structure of its body looked like a dog's or a cat's. It was a little bigger than me, enough to make me look up when looking at the head. I am pretty sure that I can't reach the head of the thing even if I jumped, not that I want to do that, but I'm just trying to let you know how large it really is. Oh, and it’s as fat as a bus, probably, or maybe more, no offense giant cat of doom.

It was indeed scary. It did not have a tail. And its rear paws weren't paws but human feet. The hind legs were like human legs that are just really hairy.

It’s a monster that you’d expect to see in hell. The distortedness of the whole idea seems to play with your brain.

My sanity bar went down a little bit.

You must've thought, I couldn't even imagine how the fuck it exactly looks like, but fuck that looks really disturbing.

What?

You didn't really think that?

Well, okay, smartass.

But that being said, my sanity bar actually went down by a lot. Apparently, seeing something that is a combination of human and cat is not totally my definition of a sane idea. It was abhorrent. My stomach twisted because of the weirdness of the creature. I don't like real life gore, where there are blood and intestines sticking out of a person, or some other internal organ that I shouldn't really see, but I've seen those when browsing the net, and it was practically the same feeling, or worse. It's a boundary that I've just stepped into and I knew I can't go back.

Unconsciously, I was already backing away from whatever that thing was.

I was pretty sure I am not dreaming because I've been pinching my thigh to try and wake myself for quite a while now.

And as if on cue, I stepped and broke a branch. It was freakishly loud because of the fact that it was too quiet. It was like the starting signal of this cat and mouse chase. And because it felt like the sound was a starting pistol or something, I ran.
