"Forget me" those were the words Joey couldn't get over, since the moment he heard them they just got stuck in his head. since the moment Daniel looked in his eyes and told him to forget about him, his life was never the same. His smile disappeared, his will to live vanished, his mind lost control, his heart broke, his life totally lost meaning. Before Daniel, Joey was nothing, Joey wasn't really happy, Joey almost didn't smile, Joey didn't know what true love was or love at all, and suddenly he was this lost hopeless lonely romantic again. And he didn't like it. He didn't like being that person, the person who doesn't know who he is, the person who doesn't know how to be happy. Before Daniel came along he was facing an identity crisis, he didn't know exactly who he was or who he loved, and when he looked that boy in the eyes for the first time he just knew, he knew why he had never fell for a girl before or anyone, he knew why he had always felt different towards guys, he knew he was gay. And god, it felt so good to say it to himself for the first time, it felt like that moment in life when we finally realize who we are. That was one of the best moments of his life, almost all the good moments of his life happened with Daniel by his side. And now everything was over, now he wouldn't wake up to his smile again or fall asleep in his arms. And all because he was a coward, and he couldn't come out not even to his best friends. He wouldn't talk about Daniel or their relationship with anyone,he wouldn't say he's in love with a guy, he always acted like he was ashamed. And for some months it worked for Daniel, it worked because Daniel knew how hard it is to come out, to assume our sexuality to the world, but Daniel never asked Joey to come out to his viewers, he just wanted to be able to grab his hand when friends or family were at the house, to be in the room when Joey was filming as a friend instead of having to hide every time because Joey was afraid of what people could think. Daniel just wanted Joey to not be ashamed of him, and the day he asked Joey to forget him he never meant it, he didn't want Joey to forget him, he just wanted Joey to fight for him, for them. But he was so anger, so sad, so tired that the only thing he could think about to say after so many discussions was that two words, and they hurt Daniel as much as they hurt Joey. They loved each other and probably Daniel would always love Joey but he couldn't be his secret like some high school romance, not anymore.
Months went by, Joey didn't try to talk to Daniel, Daniel tried to move on as much as he could but every night he would dream about the boy and wish they were still sleeping together and waking up to each other eyes but as the months went by that chance seemed even more far away until one day happened the one thing Daniel thought would never happen. Joey called, after seven months, Joey just called, and Daniel declined, so he called again and Daniel declined again, thirteen calls, thirteen declines, and when Daniel thought he had given up he received a text. From Joey. Asking to meet him, saying he had a surprise, begging for Daniel to go. And Daniel couldn't say no, he could never say no when all he wanted was to see the boy, to see the love of his life again. and Daniel would most likely have the biggest surprise of his life on that meeting.
Joey wasn't completely sure of what he was about to do, but he couldn't stop thinking about Daniel, for seven months he tried to forget the guy and fought against his will of calling and begging him to come back, and for seven months he cried and wished he had the courage to come out. And now there he was, waiting for Daniel, with some papers in his hand, and with an idea in his mind, something that would never work without Daniel, or maybe it would but he didn't want it to work with anyone else.
When Daniel finally arrived and realized what was about to happen he couldn't believe it, he couldn't believe the man of his dreams was in front of him, apologizing, asking him back, wanting to release a music video in which he would come out to everyone, and even better? He wanted Daniel to be in that music video, to be the guy who would give him the courage to release himself from all the darkness he has inside and the guy who would kiss him in the end. After seven months of endless crying, Daniel could finally get his love back, and Joey had finally gained enough courage to be happy. All Joey ever wanted was to be happy and he almost lost that, he almost lost it because he didn't realize what he had right in front of him and he wouldn't make that mistake again. and he would make sure that the words "it's over" or "forget me" would never come out of Daniel's mouth ever again. He would make him happy, if he still wanted. and Joey was sure he wanted when the boy grabbed his wrist and kissed him with passion.
They would make that music video, they would come out to the world together, and then they would face whatever it came, they would face the hate, the prejudices, the difficulties, they would face it because they love each other. They love each other more than anything else in the world, and that it's something no one could take away from them.
Once Daniel might have thought they would never work out, but now he was sure they would never forget about each other. Sometimes people take a long time to realize what they really feel, what they really need, but when they do that's when they can finally be happy. Daniel and Joey realized that, it took them seven months, but better later than never right?
