"What do you even want?" Serena asks.
"I heard you were planning on adventuring," The being says. "Mind if I tag along?"
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"A demon? Adventuring with a witch? That's absolute chaos!" The owl shouts, glaring daggers at the demon.
"Well, if it helps, I can give you a name," He replies, bringing a hand up to his chest. He sticks his thumb out and points to himself.
"The name's Iencia, but I'd prefer you call me your boyfriend." Serena's face turns red.
"What? Stop spitting nonsense, I'd never call you that!" She exclaims. The being shakes his head, and slaps his cheek.
"My apologies. The thoughts that this body produces can be a little... inappropriate sometimes... That's besides the point, anyways. What would your name be, miss?"
"I'm Serena Allia, but you can call me whatever. I'm gonna call you Ian, okay?"
"Fine by me," Iencia says. He turns to the owl.
"What would the fowl be called?"
"My old name was Citrine, but Serena here has yet to give me a new name. You can name me whenever, my lady."
"Ooh, that's a good thing to call her," Iencia says, putting a hand on his chin.
"Don't you dare call me that," Serena growls. "And Citrine, your new name is Onyx. With a 'y'."
"Why with a 'y'?" Onyx asks.
"Because too many people have an 'i', so I thought a 'y' would be unique."
"I trust your word, my lady," Onyx speaks. His eyes spark to life, and his beak drops open.
"Iencia?" Onyx screeches. "The Iencia?"
"Destroyer of planets, master of dark magic, and demon outlaw, at your service."
"Demon outlaw?" Serena mumbles. "What does that mean?"
"You see, when the demon law is broken, the perpetrator becomes a demon outlaw, banished from the safety of hell and forced to live among the surface creatures. I have no idea how to make my way in this world, so I though tagging along a young witch on an adventure might give me an idea on how to live peacefully."
"You want to live peacefully?"
"Sure do, missy! The demon life is fun, but it's pretty illegal up here, so I'll have to follow the rules of peasants if I want to roam free."
"We aren't peasants!" Serena defends.
"Oh yeah? Then why can't you possess other people?" Iencia questions.
"Because we have morals," she replies. Iencia laughs.
"Demons have morals, they're just a lot more bendable than yours. Anyways, back to that adventure-"
"You, of all demons, are not tagging along!" Onyx shouts.
"And why not?" He asks.
"Ian seems pretty harmless," Serena says.
"Excuse you, I am very dangerous! I just won't do anything to little Serena here. Something about the owner of this body is telling me not to."
"The owner of that body is gone," Onyx states.
"No, he's just deep inside my mind now. Well, his mind. It's his mind that I'm controlling and he's inside- no, that doesn't sound quite right. Wherever he is, I'm controlling everything but a small part of his conscience. It keeps saying stuff that I don't wish to repeat, so it isn't a very defiant conscience, but it's still annoying. Even an all-powerful demon such as myself cannot stop his thoughts. They're quite disturbing..."
"Alright! I've had enough of your babbling! Serena, we should leave, Iencia is no good, especially for a young witch who's only learning about the world."
"Onyx," Serena says. "Have you heard of demon hunters?"
"Yes I have, and they do an important job. Now let's go-"
"Ian could get hunted."
"Yes, he could, now let's-"
"I don't think he deserves to die."
"WHAT?" Onyx yells. "He's killed so many innocent people, Serena, he-"
"But he wants to change his ways. If he doesn't get a chance to change, we'll never know if he can be good or not."
"You flatter me, Serena," Iencia chimes in.
"All I'm saying is that... I don't think I can leave him alone here. The demon hunters wouldn't understand that he's trying to live normally. It wouldn't be fair!"
"Neither would forgiving him for murdering innocents be," Onyx replies.
"You can't change the past, but you can change the future, and thats exactly what I'm going to do. His future looks dark if we don't help him. And you're my familiar, anyways, so I don't have to listen to you!"
"You should at least take a warning, then. This is a demon. He's stronger than your magic, and he could kill you at any time."
"But he won't," She says. Onyx sighs, and Iencia gives Serena a pat on the back.
"Way to fight, missy!" Iencia says, grinning.
"Come on, then, let's get going! It's a long way to Cielta!" Serena rummages around in some nearby bushes and pulls out a broom and a small backpack. She slings the backpack over her shoulder, and holds the broom out in front of her.
"I don't think two can fit on this," Serena says, looking up at Iencia.
"Either I'm sitting on your lap, or you're sitting on mine," he says, sounding as though he thinks that's the only option.
"Nobody's sitting on any laps," Serena says, pulling her wand out of her pocket.
"I can use magic to make it bigger!" She traces the wand from the bottom of the broom to the top, and when it reaches the very top, she continues to move the wand upwards, extending the broom. She adds some length to it and then inspects what she's done.
"Looks good enough," she says, tossing it in front of her. Before it hits the ground, it floats back up. Serena hops onto it, and Iencia slowly follows.
"You put it between your legs?" He asks, trying to figure out how to sit.
"Yes, that's how it goes," Serena says, helping him sit.
"No, that's not how it goes," he replies, quickly getting up after sitting as she told him to.
"Why not?"
"It's not agreeing with this body. Any other ways?"
"What, do you want a chair of sorts?" Serena inquires. Iencia stays silent, and Serena sighs. She taps the back of the broom with her wand, and the wood bends and extends itself to form a seat. Onyx takes rest on her shoulder, and stays silent while Iencia sits.
"There. Now let's get going!"
"Where to, exactly?" Iencia says.
"Cielta! The city of dreams and magic! They say that anyone who goes there becomes famous!"
"Hun, I think you're thinking of the wrong city," Iencia says.
"What? It's the really big city, right? The one with the cloudpokers?"
"Skyscrapers," Onyx corrects.
"You're thinking of New Cielta. Cielta itself isn't a city. In fact, the real Cielta would be the perfect place to start an adventure," Iencia states.
"Well, I've got directions to Cielta, so wherever that is, I'm sure we can adventure anyways!"
"Say, Iencia," Onyx says, "You never said why you got exiled from hell."
"Let's just say it's frowned upon to stick your tongue out at Satan," He says.
"Wow, that's a pretty lame reason," Serena states, scoffing.
"I don't see you defying the demon law," he speaks.
"True, I'll give you that, just as long as you promise you'll let me change your eye color when we get to Cielta."
"Why? Orange eyes are gorgeous," he says.
"Orange eyes could get you killed anywhere. Besides, you'd look better with blue eyes."
"And you'd look better in my bedroom."
"IENCIA!"
"I wish this body would stop making me think bad stuff! What was this kid, a pervert? Every time you say something innocent, his conscience comes up with a response like that! I don't even want to tell you what kind of images he puts into my-"
"ENOUGH!"
