It's been a year since Jade finally escaped. She escaped the dark lonely place that was unfortunately her life. I'll never forget what had those happened few weeks...

It was a really warm day in June, and school wasn't quite finished yet. Jade's parents were fighting more than usual and money was really tight for her family, Jenna and Violet (The popular girls in our class) were being especially mean to Jade, Hugo and I. I arrived at the school early as usual, and in the distance I saw a tall girl with black hair approaching. I knew immediately that it was Jade, my best friend, beside her I noticed a short and scrawny little red head boy with many freckles scattered across his round face. I knew that was Hugo, my other best friend. As they gained closer I grabbed my orange backpack and rushed towards them.

"Hey Jade! Hi Hugo! How are you?" I greeted them.

"I'm alright, I had that dream again last night..." Jade answered mysteriously.

"Wait, the one where you have wings?" I asked curiously.

"Yeah, that one. Kendra, this is really freaking me out, I get this dream at least once a week" Jade muttered. Jade tended to get worried about things easily. Her big brown eyes stared at me.

"I don't know Jade, ever since your parents started fighting so much you started having those dreams..." I tried to come up with a logical explanation. Hugo looked up and pushed his shaggy ginger hair out of his face.

"Sometimes, dreams can have meanings, or are caused by things going on in your life. Maybe that's what's happening to you. Flying dreams can mean you need freedom, or your dealing with a lot of stress" Hugo put in. Hugo was right .The dreams were probably a sign. Jade seemed stressed out. Jade hated coming to school, but she didn't like leaving either, she didn't want to hear her parents fight, but she also didn't want to be bullied by Jenna and Violet. The bell rung for class to start so we rushed into the school and went to class.

Lunch finally rolled around and Jade, Hugo and I sat down at a table. Jade was in a very irritable mood and Hugo and I stayed quiet so we weren't in the line of fire.

"I just don't get it!" Jade cried out. "Why do they find so much pleasure in making our lives miserable!" I knew at once she was talking about Jenna and Violet.

"I don't know why Jade, I'm sorry. You deserve better" I tried calming her down.

"But it's not fair! We all deserve better! Not just me! God knows you and Hugo don't need this either!" Jade was becoming hysterical. Hugo seemed to shrink down in his seat. Hugo was very timid, and didn't like yelling much.

"Jade, please calm down, before you hurt yourse-" Hugo was cut off by Jade.

"I'm done being calmed down! I've had enough being pushed around by everyone!" Jade yelled. She stood up and grabbed her bag and dashed out the door.

"Jade wait!" I called after her "Come on, we better go get her" I motioned for Hugo to stand up. We chased after her out the school doors. We searched the school field trying to find her. Eventually we found her curled up in a ball underneath the shade of a tree.

"There you are!" I let out relieved. Jade raised her head out of her hands. "Oh Kendra... I'm sorry for running out like that." Jade sobbed. "I'm sorry for yelling at you Hugo, I know how much you hate that" Jade apologized.

Hugo let out a weak smile. He still looked shaken. "It's alright Jade, I understand you didn't mean it" Hugo cooed. Jade got up. "Okay. Let's go finish lunch. I'm good now." Jade interrupted the silence.
