I woke up with my cat on my chest and my allergies flaring. They only immunity I truly wish I had. I sneezed sending my cat running out of the room before she jumped back on the bed. Turning off my alarm I managed to get showered and dressed for school. Hearing the bus come I said goodbye to Eve and ran to the end of my driveway staying out of sight till I was there. No one seemed to notice as I got on the bus, everyone was about as brain dead as I was. I could've drove, but that'd be too much work. Going to my play list on my phone I turned on Sweater Weather by The Neighbourhood and realized in a way it matched up to today. I saw the weather was 42 and made sure to have a sweater.
I found myself in the cluttered streets of Venice. It was a beautiful sight until I realized what time period it was. It was post dark ages era and the Black Death had started showing its first signs in the world. I turned around and found myself at an old medicine shop that I worked at before the owner himself came down with the disease. Everyone where around me you could hear the plague spreading from person to person poisoning them while they walked around passing it on before the effects took place. I felt someone tugging at my dress to see a little girl crying for me to help her.
"I cant," I said, "there's nothing I can do for someone as far gone as you," I continued sadly. "I'm so sorry,"
"Hey girl! Wake up, we're at the school," the bus driver said. I snatched my backpack and ran off the bus telling her good day as I passed. I went through the students loitering at the entrance getting irritated each time one of them bumped into me. I went straight to my locker to put up my books before the bell rang, and as predicted Leo was there waiting for me.
"Hey, how much do I owe you for last night?" he asked.
"Nothing," I replied closing my locker and heading to my class upstairs. I sat in my desk and did the class starter finding myself bored thirty minutes into the class. I watch storm clouds roll in turning the sky a darker shade of gray. They looked ominous as they rumbled and caused the sky to flash. The bell finally rang, and in each I had a view of the outside to keep me distracted.
I had fourth block free and was able to head home if I wanted to, but without a car today I found myself in a music room. I found a grand piano with a white sheet placed over it and when I pulled it off I saw an almost new looking piano. I sat down and put my hands on the lid showing the keys.
"Very good, now play it again," my instructor said queuing me to start. I played the melody a few times before we moved onto a new piece. We sat on the second floor of a grand manor he owned. His piano sat directly in front of a large window giving me a view of the garden he tended to daily. The flowers were all in bloom turning the lawn into a beautiful symphony of colors.
"That sounds amazing," a girl said bringing me back to reality. "Where did you learn to play so well?"
"Well I don't really play often. I just saw the piano and figured I'd give it a try." I said closing the lid quickly and putting the sheet back over it.
"No it's fine really..." she was trying to say as I hurried out of the room. Thankfully the bell just then too and I grabbed my stuff and went home for the weekend. The sky was still dark on the way home, and it started to rain. After a few minutes though the rain subsided being replaced snow. The street lights amplified their radiance and made the flakes glow on their decent down.
"Beautiful..." I whispered stepping off the bus. I started to shiver as they landed on me on my long walk to my house from the driveway. I found Eve swatting at the as she pounced towards me. When she reached me she meowed as if remembering another moment like that many years ago.
"I know girl," I said picking her up. She purred as I carried her back to the house and soon the warmth of our house greeted us. I took off my sweater and set it on the coat rack to dry. I went to the living room sitting down on the couch and realized I had a lot of empty space inside my house. I turned on the TV flipping through channels and turned it off in disappointment when nothing good was on.
