Louis POV
We were back at our hotel after a hectic rehearsal. I still hadn't gotten the phone call and the boys were trying to question me again. "Look! I really don't want to talk about anything!" I hissed and kept my head low. My gaze remained on the phone in my hands as I held my ground. "You always say that but we can tell there's something going on Lou!" Zayn replied un wavered by my temper. "Your right! There is something wrong! But its my personal business and I don't need you four always harassing me about it! Could you please just back off! I've told you I don't wanna talk more times than I should have to! Just for the love of god leave it alone!" I shouted harshly and stormed over to the hotel door. "Lou, where are you going?" Liam questioned apparently not getting the memo that I didn't want to talk. "Somewhere that I can hear myself think" I muttered and opened the door. "Wait Lou!" Harry stopped me and I turned around shooting him a look to say I was beyond annoyed. I could tell there was something he really wanted to say, but instead he muttered something about me getting a carton of milk while I was out. I nodded my head in agreement and walked out of the room.
70 minuets and a pitiful disguise later, I had bought the milk and was on my way towards the hotel. I still hadn't received the supposed phone call from my puppet master. Half of me was relived, and half of me was wanting to get it over with. Not that a phone call would end all the secrets. Anyone could see that I was going to be 'controlled' for quite some time. Seeing that we were staying in Nialls home town, I should of been at peace. Niall trusted them all, so I should too! Right? No...things just didn't add up. Why as soon as I come to Ireland did the torture get worse? I was so concerned with the shadows in my imagination that I tripped over my own feet and fell hard onto the cement. The milk jug busted on contact with the cement and splattered in all directions. I tossed the now empty jug of milk into a trash bin and wiped the cow juice off of my face. Seeing as I was a good distance away from the store I shrugged it off and forgot about the milk. I quickened my pace as the reality of the frigid night hit me. As I walked I could hear a set of footsteps...other than my own. My heart began racing, my mind set on one thing only. Getting back to the hotel. I wasn't paranoid. Someone was following me... Every turn I took, I could feel their cold breath getting heavier on the back of my neck. Sometimes I heard footsteps, only to turn and see no one. Sometimes I would hear breathless whispers in my ear.
The already eerie lights flickered in the black wrought iron lamp posts. I took a moment to turn, but there was nothing but a shadow... And it wasn't mine. My breath hitched in my throat and I ducked into an alley. Leaping over a trash bin, I dropped to my knees and carefully peeped over the dumpster . I saw two green eyes hiding behind a mess of hair. "Go away" I stuttered. The green eyes grew closer then disappeared. I stood up and came face to face with... Harry? "There you are Lou! We've been looking all over for you!" Harry said planting a hand on my shoulder and pulling me back out of the alley "We said, Lou, why don't you go get a carton of milk from the store. You left and didn't come back!" He said slightly annoyed as he looked at my empty hands. "All that time and you never even made to to the grocery!" He mumbled stuffing his hand into my pocket and retrieving my mobile. He placed it directly in my line of sight... I had about 20 missed calls, 7 voicemail messages, and more unanswered texts than I would care to count. All of them were from the lads. He flicked the silencer off and dropped the phone in my hands without another word. "I dropped the milk and it busted on the pavement" i defended but didn't get a response out of him. The walk back to our hotel was suffocated by a thick silence. My phone started ringing in my hands and I looked at Harry with a sheepish smile. Ring 1. I couldnt answer it! Not in front of Harry! "Are you gonna answer it or not?" He asked me as stared blankly at the screen. Ring 2. As he leaned over to see what I was looking at his eye brows furrowed in confusion. It was an unmarked number. Ring nu,mber 3. Quickly I jammed my phone back into my pocket and started speed walking ahead of him. I heard his heavy foot steps behind me as he jogged up to my side. "Louis... Is there something your not telling me?" He asked standing in front of me with a very serious expression. I attempted to walk around him but he scooted left and right to block my path. I couldn't tell him what I knew... I couldn't risk the life of my best friend."It's nothing Haz" I said grimly and pushed past him.
Harry's POV
I hated seeing him like this. Ever since the original Mr X confusion, the Larry storm, the cryptic messages, he'd been a mess. It killed me inside watching him walk along the dark road in front of me. I could see it in his eyes that he was keeping a secret from me. He had the same look on his face as he did the time he accidently threw out my boots. Only this time, there was more fear. It wasn't a fear of someone he knew, it was more of a fear of the unknown. I knew I needed to find out what he knew, and to do that, I needed to go through his things when he wasn't around.
Liam's POV.
Niall, Zayn, and I had ordered a Pizza for when Harry and Louis got back and were now watching reruns of Burn Notice. I glanced over at the door as it creaked open and Louis walked over and sat on the couch. Harry was right behind him as Louis cleared his throat and muted the speakers. "Um...I just want to say something to you all." He began fumbling with his words a bit and not making eye contact with anything but the furniture. "I've been acting like a jerk to you when you just wanted to help and I'm really sorry...I'm just kinda going through a rough patch. I just kinda need to know you have my back, no questions asked, and some space to myself sometimes." He mumbled looking up at me with a hopeful smile. "You know we've got your back for anything and everything" Zayn said with a smile and patted him on the back, "If leaving you alone Sometimes means I get the old Louis back, I don't mind" Niall continued happily. I let out a sigh and smiled at him. "And I suppose I can ask you about other things like football scores and such" I smirked and reclined on the couch. "You guys are amazing" Louis mumbled with a sheepish smile as Harry leaped over the back of the couch. "Group hug!" Niall shouted and squished us all together. A rap on the door interrupted our hug, and before I could even stand up, Niall and Zayn were at the door on anticipation. "I'm starved! I haven't had anything since the candy earlier!" Zayn muttered opening the door. "Pizza?" Harry questioned perking up. "Pizza!" Niall shouted handing the delivery boy his money and rushing inside with 2 boxes of cheese littered deliciousness. We all grabbed our food and sat back down on the couch to continue with our show.
Harry's POV
The pizza was amazing! Niall knew which places were good around here and which weren't. Zayn left and went to bed right after, but the rest of us finished up our Burn Notice marathon. Liam headed off to his room and then Louis, then Niall. I was cleaning up our dinner mess when I lifted up Louis plate. I had just grabbed it when I noticed a certain someone's phone had been left out here. I quickly dropped the trash in my hands and snatched Louis mobile off the side table. There was nothing too interesting on it, until I looked over the missed calls list. Right at the top, was the Unmarked number from earlier. My mind flashed to Louis reaction when he received it earlier. It was as if he didn't want to answer it because I was with him. My finger tapped the call back button and without thinking the phone began dialing the number. No turning back now.
