Rain

Alec POV –
I awake with a scream stuck in my throat. My body is shaking and I am covered in sweat. I look over and see a happy, dreaming Magnus laying there. It calmed me a little but the image was still there like it was sown into my head.

My dream, more like nightmare, consisted of a happy normal day here in our apartment until these demons knocked down the door and were chanting weird things. I immediately jumped into shadowhunter mode and I was killing them off one by one but they just seemed to keep coming.

I breathed in relief as I stabbed the last one. I giggled a little for some reason, mostly thankful it was over. I search the apartment making sure there were none left. I was happy with my search until I see the blood pooling from around the corner. I freeze in shock. I turn the corner and when I see him lying there I just sob. I try and hold his limp bloodied body but I'm too afraid to touch him.

I sit in bed replaying it over and over in my head. I get out of bed and pace in the living room, I just feel like I need to get out and escape for a little bit. I slip on my shorts, shirt and shoes and decided to go for a run.

I slip out of the front door as silently as I could and hastily make my way outside. The minute my lungs breathe in the cold evening air my head feels clearer. The streets themselves were quiet for a Sunday evening/Monday morning.

I start to run, having no clue where I was going. I had run for about half an hour until I ended up in a familiar park. I stumble across a spot where Magnus and I sat a couple of days ago having a picnic.

I enjoy the memory until I am interrupted by the biggest boom of thunder I had ever heard, I nearly jumped out of my skin and it felt like the floor shook. I look up and see the darkest storm clouds I had ever seen. This storm was going to be brutal but I wasn't ready to go back.

I continue running and by the time I started to feel rain fall I had been running for an hour now. I look up and at this moment the sky breaks and the heavens cry and in a matter of seconds I am soaking from head to toe.

I find shelter in a nearby alley that has a doorway with a roof. I decide to stay there until the storm clears a little worried I would get lost. Half an hour later the clouds looked like they had moved on and the rain was just a shower now.

I try to retrace my step and make my way home as quickly as possible. Before I knew it I was in the park again, I knew I'd be home soon. In that minute the sky cried again and the rain was bucketing down. By the time I made it back to the apartment I was completely saturated.

I climbed the steps up to the apartment my shoes squeaking on the stairs and my clothes feeling ten times heavier than when I left. My body was racking from the cold rain and wind it had just endured so I decide to take a hot shower.

I slip into the apartment quietly again and make my way to the bathroom being as silent as possible to not wake my love. In the bathroom I am quick to turn on the water, get out of my clothes and get into the scolding water.

My skin at first burned at the feel of the hot water but it soon welcomed the heat. I put my head under the water and tried my best to run my hands through the tangles of my windswept hair. I turn the water off and wrap a towel around me satisfied that I was clean and no longer on the verge of hypothermia.

I quietly slip on some clean baggy pyjamas and get back into bed with a now clear mind. I lay there for a while just looking at him and taking in all his features and soaking up his presence. Like he felt my eyes on him, his eyes flashed open and his warm smile melted my heart.

"Hello," Magnus said reaching over and stroking my wet hair.

"Hi, sorry I woke you," I whispered trying to sound soothing.

"It's fine my love, are you okay?" he asked with concern.

"I'm perfect when I'm with you, I love you," I said wholeheartedly.

He smirked, "I know you do, and I love you."

I lean over and kiss that smirk off of his face and pull him into my arms. I don't know about him but that night I slept the best I had done in a long time, mostly because I was so worn out from the rain.
